Damage Reduction vs. All Resist
Can someone please explain the difference between these two stats on armor? Damage reduction is obvious, a % damage reduction to all incoming attacks. However, the individual resistances also seem to be % reduction (despite not saying so on the char sheet, the %type reduction skills in the defense tree match exactly to the numbers on the sheet), so that would mean All Resist is also % damage reduction to all incoming attacks.

So what gives?

Tank build do not work in my experience at all. Deflection does not work. you can test it yourself. No deflect symbols showing up in tactical view. My tank crusader has 30% damage reduction and 30% deflection and still gets destroyed in 3 seconds on green mission rank 20. So something is off. The only way to reduce damage seems to be the void shield, that blocks all damage.

To do hard missions you have to rely on dps. Tanking damage is not going to work. Psyker has some shields that reduce incoming damage reliably.

i spilling out deflected like a fountain in a battle..... so deflect is working fine

deflection work fine, you can see it if you turn on "floating battle info" on the option => gameplay menu.

It might be that the combat log does announce deflection correct. Does that mean that it really prevents damage? But i am still melting away in green mission if i try to just tank damage from regular enemies in green missions. I have not found a way to use tanking as a method of clearing maps.

so 30% deflect and 30% all resist does not really work for me. That are not especially high stats. If you find a way to make tanking worthwhile please tell me. I am trying to find it.

Deflect works, and it works VERY well.

Deflection has nothing to do with my question, and understanding damage mitigation stats is important for ALL builds, not just tanks.

Still nothing?

Deflect does not work on aoe / flamers, otherwise it seems to be OK. Especially with the +5 Suppr regen / deflect. From perk AND equipment That's 10/deflect. I literally can't get my suppression bar down from green unless it's flamers.

Damage Reduction on players I think might count as the armor stat NPCs have, for the purposes of Amor Piercing/Breaking, while resists might not be. That's the best guess I have, otherwise the distinction between the two is definitely a bit unclear.

Can you post your build, please? that should work wonders with the catachan damage reduction skill tree

Damage Reduction: Is the Armor percentage. Which mostly affect physical damage.

All Resist for Heat, Warp, Physical. And the number count as a percentage.

Do you have a source/proof for the claim that Damage Reduction affects physical more than heat/warp?

Crusader have the highest Armor of the others 2. The Assault Armor with the leap skill have the highest DR cause it's meant for melee.

Psyker have low DR and high All resist.

As testing the DR in my Crusader as 2H melee, increasing my DR reduced my physical damage taken i was able to tank bosses as a 2H in coop, but not heat dmg or warp.
My Physical resist is at 9 which is the lowest from the other resist.

Also this concept is available in other games, like D3.
