when can i play co op

Co-op unlocks after progressing through some of the main story first.

I'm wondering the same thing. It would have been nice to know that co-op wasn't enabled from the beginning.

You have to do one more ground mission after the 5th tutorial one, then co op should unlock if I recall.

IIRC, once you leave the Martyr coop will open up. You may have to do one more story mission right after your departure from the Martyr.

You can coop after the Tutorial (1st 5 Missions on the Matyr), the Panel for random coop queue was unlocked after Campaign Mission 6 to me, but i was able to do a random Mission In coop with a friend.
Just friend, Form a group and let the Leader choose a non Campaign Mission.

That said, after 2-3 Co-op missions, you won't want to anymore.

I played 2 Co-Op missions, it was terrible, laggy and choppy and my Melee Crusader was overhwhelmed all the time and I had to use my ranged weapon 100% of the time. Went back to solo and played melee, never again!
