Can tech priest co-op w martyr only players?
If I own martyr and buy the tech priest "stand alone" DLC - can I play the tech priest inquisitor with a friend who only owns martyr through the original martyr content?

The tech adept cant play through the martyr chapters 1-5, he comes in on the 3 new chapters. Im pretty sure he can still play random missions together though. Have to check the faq again.

you are indeed correct.
"Tech-Adepts are exclusive to the stand-alone expansion, with their own story, so they won't be able to join co-op parties on Inquisitor - Martyr's campaign maps"

Wait I'm a bit confused. I haven't played much of the base game but I was planning on buying the expansion tomorrow alongside the update and start from scratch with the Tech Adept - meaning the base campaign from start.

If that's not possible then I assume that I will have to play with one of the other characters but what about when I reach the "expansion levels" (as in after the main campaign). Will the tech adept be level 1 and have to level him again?

Most probably it's just me having a brain fart and missing something here but any clarification will be highly appreciated.

As some of us understood it the only bit of Martyr you couldn't co-op for was the base campaign of Martyr and that was for narrative reasons. So you would still be able to co-op the season stuff with Drukhari and Khorne. Given that the Martyr characters can play Prophecy content after chapter 1 and that they can't play chapter 1 of Prophecy because it would break the narrative. Not totally sure of this because I haven't seen official confirmation that's how it works but that's my theory. Guess we'll find out in a day.

I can understand that base characters can't play the 1st chapter out of 3 of the expansion but I really do hope that the Expansion class can play the whole game from the beginning. We shall see then :)

The tech adept gets introduced in essentially chapter 6. Martyr is chapter 1-5. You get a summary of what happened in Martyr and what the tech adept was up to in chapter 6. Then in "chapter 7" he joins up with the original crew from martyr and you can full coop the last two chapters. At least from the faq that is my understanding.

So old classes can play 7 chapters while adpet just 3?

This is..well, stupid.

It is a very strange design choice indeed.

They finally give us the ability to co-op the campaign and, at the same time, a new class who can not do this. /eye roll

If they had the adept able to play in the original game then people who just buy the standalone will miss 5 chapters of the adepts story. This way is good and bad.

I just want to play with my damn friends. Why is this so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard? It's a 4 man team. I'd like to play the 4th class instead of the 3 I have already played through the story with. I just want to play with them as they go through the content. It's not going to break the game any more than just having another Psyker on the team.

But no. Now it's 3 Steam returns and me looking like a jackass for even having suggested it.

Besides, WTF happens if we finish the first 5 chapters and one of us wants to start a Tech at chapter 6? One of us is level 1 while 3 are gods? Was that really the plan?

Answr: Terrible game design.

Their plan was so bad that it allowed players to refund the expansion pack after completing the content (having played well past the 2 hour mark) because it accrued time on the original game and not the stand alone expansion which was still at zero hours played.

So at least there's that. Their scheme to get fresh reviews by doing it stand alone backfired.
