It is not sad times, it is end times for warhammer. The Age of Sigmar is the new stuff. New Warhammer 40k is hard to swallow too. Primaris marines and all the shenanigans.

Old Warhammer 40k and Fantasy licenses are dropped by helicopter now. Even i found one on my way to work in a trash bin.

It is just not warhammer anymore. Age of sigmar is strange. And primaris marines is a complete nonsense retcon of the lore. We have a secret army of super marines hiding somewhere? Does not make any sense.

Why? First you can not hide before the forces of Chaos. Even blank psyker or anti-psyker could not hide their presence completely. And to build up a force as strong as them you would need whole planets for the infra structure. Chaos would find a way to corrupt them. The empire severly limited the power of their space marine forces for a very good reason. To secretly build and grow a strong force of super hero marines would make no sense. What if they get corrupted? Horus Heresy times 10?

The empire had problems in the lore to build the most basic marine armor patterns or even bolter guns. And suddenly Standart Technology Konstrukts appear that can build wastly superior weaponry. Retcons the lore hard again. Not only ground troops but suddenly star ships are available in huge numbers.

The warhammer 40k universe was in a stalemate. It is good to shake things up and do something fresh and interesting. But it seems to me primaris marines are just put into the game to sell new units not regarding old lore or sensibilities.

The same way old warhammer fantasy fans were treated. Instead of getting new codeci for their armies, all warhammer fantasy was just thrown into the trash bin.

That is what i ment it is hard to swallow. Too much power fantasy in new warhammer 40k and too much fantasy in Age of sigmar. The old world was much more interesting then the different realms of age of sigmar. Sound too much of a warhammer 40k version of warhammer fantasy. Hey Warhammer Fantasy does not sell but 40k does. What to do. Make fantasy more scifi. Cool idea.

Its a game... Who cares the fluff has been bad since inception, the game has had multiple changes in its life before primaris were a twinkle... Purists are just complainers for the sake of it imo..

The games are far superior for these changes we have now but so many knuckle draggers cannot take a few changes and will not give them a try ... because lore man lore.. pfft lore is all stripped from every other fantasy and sci fi asset anyway so who cares..

GW's profit's have been on the raise for years by now. In fact, GW performed better during the launch of AOS's 2nd edition than with 40k's 8th and soft reboot.

Look at 40k's numbers. During the second half of 2017 they had a massive influx of 40k stuff.
