Item Quality

My apologies if this has been asked and answered before but I'm on my phone and I cannot find a search function for the forum.

What does item quality mean? I'll pick up an item that appears to be more powerful than what I have equipped, but it will often indicate it is lower quality than whatever I have currently equipped. I also don't know what the number in the upper right hand corner of the description means. I think it is a hammer with a number below it. I looked in the tutorial but I could not find answers to these questions. Thank you.

From what I can tell item quality is the range of which the stats can go, if you choose to reroll at Omnikron. Usually high level item quality can roll higher max stat than lower one. So for instance you can find item quality 61 and have item quality 54 and sometimes it can still be better at moment you find it, because the higher level item quality might not have rolled good base stats, but if you take to reroll stat to get them higher, then higher item quality will usually go to higher max pool.

Also for instance with stuff like artifact, Relic and Aerotech items will typically be able to higher higher max damage then green item quality piece. Hope that explains it?

Item quality was important, when we had no item levels, but power levels. I'd say it's unimportant nowadays.

The symbol in the upper right corner shows how often you can modify an item (reroll stats and the like).

Compare anything but quality. Quality is a useless stat right now because it can't massure in the build route you go for.
