i dont get it

the trailer confuses me how does the game work? haha so that cartoon girls is like a space ship in a retro arcade shooter? similar to XORTEX from the lab?. and the red lines i see in the center are... an opposing player? what are all the lines all over the place? comets? missiles fired my me or my opponent?...
