They were honest about needing cash, they released product instead of asking for kickstarter money, so I don't know why people are upset. the game is fairly well developed as it is, it feels smooth (it needs work) but I feel more confident about this game than others under the Early Access level, like Empyrion got saturated with content but doesn't really look or feel finished when it was released into 1.0. But Satisfactory kind of does feel finsihed even when it's not, and has more to add which is great.

I don't think they released merch just for fun, on top of that, I'm pretty sure the marketing team (or person) are probably not the game programmers. I imagine it's not stealing resources from the development.

To be fair you do kinda have point there, I guess people (myself included) just got so used to on big scummy companies like ea and similar start selling stuff for games and always messing them up and cash grabbing.
But out of personal experience if I pre order aaa game I usually get buggy mess on release date and have to wait a while to get it properly running (Horizon Zero Dawn had to wait almost month to get it running)
EVERY early access indie game I ordered came fully set and for all bugs and glitches and stuff devs would react and soon release hotfix or similar.
So I guess IMO I will give them pass it is just how players got used to getting screwed by big vEArmins so we start thinking every company is same.... while they are very different.

I'm a bit nonplussed as well, but I have more confidence in this game being completed than most. I've put more hours in this game than most completed games. I definitely got my money's worth - it would just be incredibly sad if it didn't realize its full potential.

I think it's the months of deafening silence that have people miffed.

Personally, I feel like the game could be released right now if they hadn't put in the WIP artifacts (add later), and if there were SOMETHING to do besides grind things up at the end. A game like this needs end game goals for your massive factories (not grinding stuff up and throwing it in the trash). That could just be contracts you need to fill at the space elevator. Put that in, put a bow on it and the game is done. DLCs for funding afterwards.

No. God no. DLCs are the worst when they're for actual functions and mechanics for the games. Expansions are fine, but just straight DLCs ala Paradox Interactive is abhorrent. I'm fine paying for some cheap cosmetics or a big big expansion for like $20, but I do not want $200 in DLC for this kind of game.

Wow, 70 days without a f*cking word and the very first one after that is "merch". Really nice.
Actually, they've said a lot about Update 4 and the future of the game on their Dev Stream

It'd be nice if they took the ten minutes to write that up and post it. They managed to tell us about Merch.

Like the post above.
Live stream is not effective to inform everyone on updates. It's actually totally ineffective. Since the only people informing others are the one following the stream. Bad information keep getting relay that way. Nobody played the phone game when they where young?

Sheesh guys put your torches and pitchforks away already its just stuff. Have you thought that maybe the people marketing the merchandise is different than the game developers?

So you're telling me they spent their money on marketers instead of developers? That's a big waste of resources when this game is already widely marketed, that money could be going to developers instead to update the game. It's also because of a lack of news or any sort of hints that they're working on an update ever since release, they've been dead silent.

I would've liked the FICSIT Logo T-shirt or the "non-lethal" coffee one but they don't come in my size.
