Trains are very fast
Would be nice to control the speed of the trains, Maybe one half to three quarters of the actual speed. This would make it more realistic.

The game isn't realistic to begin with.

You want your trains to be less efficient? Weird request.

Also 120kph isn't particularly unrealistic for freight trains. While I'm only looking at data for US trains, the locomotives themselves are typically capable of hitting 75mph before automatically shutting down. This is, possibly not coincidentally, almost exactly 120kph. Of course this is only allowed on Class 5 track or higher, and even then they generally "only" go about 60mph (96kph). And before you ask, yes, there is Class 5 track in use with freight trains hitting 60+mph. It's mostly in the midwest and points further west as given the time it takes for a real freight train to speed up and slow down, it's unsurprisingly done for routes where they don't plan to be stopping for a long time.

120kph in a hairneedle turn through a canyon is not very realistic. But true, the game isn'i realistic to begin with. So I'll leave it at that. Thanks.

I am sure a slower train mod can be made to fulfill your needs. I just dont know who would actually want to make trains go slower or if any such people know how to make mods. I wouldnt mind a mod that makes them go faster like a bullet train.

I was thinking more of riding through the landscape and enjoying the scenery until the next update comes, By this speed you can get dizzy.

Yeah, it looks goofy. I expect the train to derail every time I see that. What really bothers me though is big trucks bumping a small stone and flying off to the sky. Vehicles and trains in this game need some work.

The trains aren't really fast in the game. And if they were even remotely realistic the tracks would be of the same design we've had since the 1800's (for the most part), go slightly faster, and also have insanely wider angles then turning.

Depending on where you look - 80-110 mph or 130-160 kph isn't unusual for freight trains. The Japanese maglev it's 600+ kph (370mph) but that's a passenger train.

Gotta wonder why the railways are so incredibly slow in the US. They're even slower now than for 60 years ago, and it's beyond silly. Though, the fact that we still use tracks we had late in the 1800's in most countries is even worse....

Anyway, wouldn't mind having a manual control over the train speed, and further, having the option to ride faster manually than automated.

I build tracks on the terrain itself so my tracks tend to have curves to avoid terrain and other obstacles more then most tracks just out of necessity. And these curves and up and and downs of following the terrain does slow the train slightly. I find the speed of my trains tends to be a good mix of being able to take in the scenery and getting to where I need to in a timely fashion. But that is all personal preference and I probably just got accustomed to the speed my trains operate at over time.
