Game runs terrible on DX12 compared to Vulkan.(1.0release)
Have you guys noticed how bad Satisfactory runs on DX12 compared to Vulkan?
In my case it's a whopping ~40% performance difference. Which is insane imo.
Besides that, I remember the game ran way better before they changed into UE5 engine.

1.0 released, started a new game. got very surprised how bad it performs, now just tinkering with almost all video settings to get it to a playable level.

Noticed the game runs better on DX11, but there is a bug, when you start a new game, the intro scsreen is just black, doesn't show anything.

AMD FSR with DX12 is unplayable. getting white screen with flickering like TV static.

Global Illumination is also a huge performance killer. About ~20% performance drop.

So far, the only playable option I found is to go with Vulkan, and having FSR enabled with it gives even better performance at the cost of slight blurriness and flickering with almost no issues.

((>All this crap problems might just be on AMD GPUs though<))
(((Sorry if my thoughts are so scattered, I have real brain damage :/ )))

I thought the game was still on custom UE4
Thousand People - Thousand Tastes.
Thousand Computers - Thousands Frame-rates.

To me (DX12) - the game (1.0) runs better than before, FPS wise also less strain on GPU/lower temp....
might be an amd problem, cause I'm using nvidia with dx12 and max video settings, and so far runs really good for me, But i'm also running a 6 core amd ryzen cpu and 32gb ram on a samsung m2 drive

It probably depends on GPU. AMD or nVidia, DX12 likely uns better or nVidia GPUs.
Because in my case, I'm on AMD GPU and it runs way better on Vulkan for some reason.
DX12 is practically unplayable for me.
im not sure why nVidia should run better on DX12 compaired to AMD, i thought DX12 is microsoft windows not nVidia and i thought Volkan is open source.
I have the disk error bug which no amount of redress seems to fix. I've half a mind (what's left after all this crap) to uninstall the game permanently until it is properly sorted.
Jo I have the same problem, I just wanted to start it under Linux and want to install DX12 otherwise it can not start but DX12 can not be installed on Linux.
I wanted to start and Lutrix doesn't help either, so nothing with Satis for the time being.

Not the same problem at all, nor should it be a problem in the first place. Proton already comes with DXVK which translated DX12 calls to Vulkan anyway. No idea why you're trying to mess with Lutris when you don't have to.

will be up and running at some point......

I still have enough that I want to play......
I don't know man. I have a high end pc, but I have an AMD GPU and run on 4K, everything on ultra AND with Lumen on and get a rock solid 60 fps (I limit it to that because of costs). I don't even use upscaling. For me the game runs as smooth as it has ever done.
I can't compare to Vulcan. But I did have little worse performance at the start first time playing 1.0 but then after just little time I guess, it was back up and good.
And now if anything performance is better than update 7 (before UE 5).

This is ofc comparing without Global illumination, because Update 7 did not have Global illumination. With it on, especially on high, it's ofc worse but not fair to compare that.
Before 1.0 the game seemed to run better with DX12 for me. Now I use Vulkan, and only noticeable problem is shadows are very dark, and so are the sides of entities that are in dark. Also looks like the metallic layer of materials are gone.

I'm gonna sidetrack a little: I have a very weak PC: GTX 1070 (not TI) and I5-7400. Add to that that I use Linux (Windows 11 couldn't install because too little space due to all my games :P ), so the game has to run through the Proton compatibility layer.
It can run some games very well on high settings (such as No Man's Sky and Doom Eternal), but not this even at its lowest settings!
This version can only be uninstalled anyway.
Reinstall again later.....

That is what I said about the previous version last year so I reinstalled it this year and seemingly the game runs :100percent: better now (using DX12 on NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti at Ultra settings w/ AMD FSR (FSR helps the landscape not be as crisp/sharp/shiny and raises frames for some odd reason with Balanced gaining 10fps more than no downscaling and Quality raising about 6 frames less than Balanced), receiving over 90fps (dependant on AMD FSR usage mode or non-FSR but stays within a range of 60 - 110fps) on 1080p monitor - Win10 - R7 1800x w/ x370 MotherBoard.

On another note, I never expect any game that goes to a v1.0 release to work with older saves so see if starting a new game helps because it runs flawless for me on old hardware on a new save but only time will tell because last year it was running at like 40fps at the very beginning and laggy after time. - but here is to hoping it works for everyone else. :yetuhappy:

Will update more as time goes on and such. :chirp:

The Update: Part 1 (09/15/24):

One crash (meta mesh - shipping blah blah seen this same error on many UE games - no worries) in 14 hours but was fixed by raising the GPU Power % up by 5 and for 12 hours straight, zero crashes and now I have a pretty decent business, set up about several mines and game is refusing to drop under 85fps - no stuttering/glitches/issues - nothing. :yetuhappy:
I'll wait and see udn have uninstalled Satisfaction will show later if it runs but has been a lot of fun until 1.0 and have often started from 0.
Under Linux it ran flawlessly despite my older computer and currently investing 3k to make it run under MS is too much for me at the moment.
