App hangs, then can't be shut down
Pretty annoying. Second time it's happened.
Game crashes. Fine, these things happen.
However, task manager, right click, end task removes it from apps and into background processes. I'm now stuck with a process called FactoryGameSteam that won't stop.
Right click -> end task -> nothing
Right click -> go to details -> end process -> "Access is denied".

What the actual eff? How am I unable to kill this process? That's absolutely batshivers.
The only way to resolve is to reboot my computer, which is frankly pathetic. Anything that's going to force me to reboot just to kill it shouldn't be running in the first place.

When you cant kill a process through task manager then something is going bad in the windows kernel. Its rare to see this on windows but you shoudlnt see it as a repeating issue.
Outside of maleware involvement one of the reasons a process wont be killable is that its being accessed by another process or the system itself. So whatever is trying to access the game process might also be hung or crashed which means a system process on your computer is stuck.. in that case the system needs a reboot for sure but for reasons other then the game itself.

Thank you Huren. Looks like it's happening when I kill the process before the "send the debug logs" thing has popped up, and it gets stuck.

That is one very plausible reason. The Unreal engine will want to generate a crash report on the process making the crashed process unkillable so long as the unreal engine is still accessing it. This means its more of a software issue not as much a kernel bug which would make Microsoft engineers very sad.

Maybe your system is the problem. I run it on Linux without any issue.

Let be honest here, Microsoft WIndows is Trash.
Oh, Loonix faithful... GTFO.... Windows is far from perfect but it's perfectly stable if you know what the heck you're doing.

LOL, no thanks. I am very familiar with Linux and Linux on desktop is a freaking mess. Windows works fine for me. What is even worse than desktop Linux are the Linux missionaries who feel compelled to butt into unrelated topics with stupid ♥♥♥♥ like "Let be honest here, Microsoft WIndows is Trash" when nobody cares. Maybe try to be more constructive in your comments so you don't come across like cultist loonie.

By the way, one your faithful is having issues here, on Mint, it seems, do try to help them:

If your going to demand people to be constructive - you can start by not slamming the Linux community in your ignorance.

One would call you a Windows Cultist loonie based on your words alone.

Move along kiddo.

Have you listened to yourself? Calling people cultists over who likes what OS better? Really? Maybe examine your own thoughts and motivations.

You really need to read before posting - saves you a lot of trouble.
Try again.

Hi Sporks.

Here the most efficient solution for unresponsive programs:

If your task manager still works: Kill the process "explorer.exe", this will end your unresponive process, and then start explorer.exe again.

If your task manager doesn't open: Log off Windows. This shuts down your program without the need to restart your whole computer,

are your feelings hurt? Enjoy your latest Windows 11 spyware. If you ever get tired to be in a black box, come to the light side, Loonix. LOL.

Edit: have a Steam award, you funny stranger, because you made be smile with your typing of "Loonix".

You're missing the point of people who know how to use Windows don't have to worry about the same things you do when you use Windows. Because we know what we're doing. Its not a perfect OS but its also not what you've built it up to be in your head.

I'm sorry but any solution of "You should install a new, different OS" to troubleshoot a game is ridiculous.

Linux is not worth fanboying over, it really isn't. I've never once ever seen anyone try to stick up for windows or say its the greatest ever.

PS your info is already out there... oops!
