Crashing on startup but was working before
I don't know why but suddenly my game is crashing on startup. I was able to run the game fine like 3 days ago but when I tried to get on a few hours ago it would not get past boot. it would show the "Satisfactory" text then get the the spinning circle loading screen then crash with no crash log or anything popping up after. I ave tried the the following:
-dx11
verifying files
reinstalling the game to two different drives to see if it was drive issue
rolling back gpu drivers
reinstalling gpu drivers
simple restart of pc after each attempt to see if that would help
No I am not using any mods or anything, I am just playing vanilla. I have no idea why this has happened and I would love to get it fixed so I can get back to making the factory grow.

since the last update to SF was more than a month ago and you're saying it worked fine several days ago,
my guess would be: it's either hardware or software / os related.

according to the downloads of steam there was an update on the 28th. it might have been a hotfix but I am also crashing to desktop. it only makes it to the satisfactory loading screen and then stops and crashes. before the 28th all was well.

Nope.

Just shader updates - there's been no updates to the game since the FICSMAS hotfix.
Just got a post on questions.satisfactorygame.com that said to delete C:\ProgramData\NVIDIA\NGX directory (it apparently is a cache and Nvidia messed up an update) and this fixed it for me!
