After Windows 11 24H2, Satisfactory will crash, black screen, fans go to max, need hard reset.
Just wondering if this is being encountered and any recommendations to avoid. Can happen once and then good for rest of the day, but happens again the next day. Everything is up-to-date, bios, GPU drivers, etc. Running AMD 5900x and Nvidia 4070 TI Super.

sounds like a hardware issue on your end, or win11 24h2 is messing things up...again.
Edit: or maybe your PSU can't keep up with the power draw from CPU + GPU running at full load....just guesstimating...
Edit2: didn't notice u said ryzen 5900x, whoopsie, check if it's overheating, run memtest etc. SF should not be able to hard-crash any OS...could be faulty drivers too then.

I use the same CPU and GPU. The Windows 11 24H2 Hit my computer about 2 weeks ago. Now my former non-crashing system is a pausing at times for seconds on inputs and programs. Random computer death. It's the Windows update. Plays on my other Windows 10 system no crashing and programs are fine. I wouldd have blocked the last update at all costs if I had been able to.

Windows updates lately have been causing headaches across all areas/platforms.

Frankly I'm starting to think its time to move to linux.
SF runs fine on a modern linux with proton, u might wanna give it a shot, dual boot is a piece of cake, if u want to try it first.

To update, I rolled back to Windows 11 23H2 and the game has been rock solid. I tried in 24H2 both turning off Auto HDR and turning off hardware GPU scheduling as suggested in other forums, but game still crashes hard. Within 10 days you can hit the "Go Back" button in Windows Update to roll back easily, after 10 days is a little more involved.
I will keep in mind that this game runs well on Linux, should MS decide to cripple my game stability more in the future it will be time to dual boot as gaming is one of the only reasons I still have a desktop computer.

Update 2: Still crashes. I played for 4 - 5 hours yesterday, no issues, but a few hours into today and same crash even after rolling back. For point of reference, I have played the game for over 200 hours without issue prior to updating to 24H2, and so obviously MS has put something on my system that is causing instability,. CPU temp was under 60 C, GPU wasn't too hot either. Looking into that Linux option...
if u r used to windows, I'd recommend Linux Mint 22.x, look&feel is kinda similar.
u can DL and create a live usb stick with tools like "rufus" on windows.
it has a live mode and an optional install.
I'm using the build-in AMD GPU drivers, which work fine, not sure if NVidia drivers do as well.
IF u want to test the live image(no intall) open a terminal and type in "glxinfo" - there should be a line like "Direct Rendering: Yes" in the output. if not, things could get a wee bit more complicated. haven't used NV drivers on linux in a long time.

been having this issue, if you can revert to 23h2 it'll fix it. i've blackscreened & my fans maxed out when i was on my desktop with NO games or anything running. windows 11 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage and i wish microsoft would not break their ♥♥♥♥ for once in their life
Your mileage may vary, but I figured out that my similar issue was being caused by the cable I was using to connect my GPU (4080 Super) to the power supply. I was using my PSU’s 12 pin single cable; replacing it with the Nvidia adapter and routing to 3 8-pin PCIE power cables completely eliminated my issue.

I had the same problem since my forced upgrade to Win 24H2, with 23H2 everything was fine. I have also a 4080 (but non super) and attached it orginally with the 12VHPWR cable that deliviered with the PSU and in this combination there was no issue until, like said, 24H2 ...
Nevertheless with Guitarer1c2 tipp to change the cable with the deleivered one from the GPU i can now play without a black/blue screen hard reboot crash since a while.

Even when this all is really strange because i had this behavior only with Satisfactoy and in no other games.

I have the same crash issue, it may be a power supply issue, I am not on windows though
