Cant Research Hard Drives when I know there were other rewards

Rewards that I remember seeing but did not take:

inventory space
power shard

I tried to research in the MAM and it said "Unable to scan hard drive (no rewards currently available)

note: I usually went for alternate recipes over the inventory size, so I might have gotten all of them, except for the power shard one. there was a way to automate power shards that I do not have, but I remember seeing.

You have to progress further in the game (unlock new tech) to be able to scan hard drives at that point.

Research starts to gate things when you exhaust the list - not a stretch for them to keep little things like that locked if there's no more research to share.

Also power shards don't require an alternate recipe - at least I don't remember ever having to unlock that one.

I throw power slugs into my recycling network all the time and it pumps out shards. Only needed the MAM to unlock the corresponding colors.

if the recipe is in one of the scanned HDs you didn't take from then its no longer available for new scans. you have to take one of the recipes of your previously scanned drives before the other one you didn't select is put back in the pool. So check the scanned HDs that you haven't selected a recipe from

so i looked around in the MAM and the recipe for the power shards was actually in the power slug tree, so that one was not what I thought. my apologies on that. I have made choices on all scanned hard drives. I have not 'saved' any scanned drives, i have selected all rewards so far. but I very certain for the last few drives I had an option between 1 alternate recipe and 1 increase in inventory size. I think when I got all the recipes I no longer could scan for the extra inventory space.

I havent been that far into this game since 1.0.
but sometimes you can unlock things in the MAM rather then by scanning drives. and in most cases the unlock requires a unscanned drive as a requirement.
in any case there are more drives then things you can unlock with them so dont worry about running out of missing a recipe. you can unloacjh everything and have some to spare

there is a recipe for power shards. I think its a way to create them without power slugs so you can automate it for ionized rocket fuel.

I found that one in the MAM though under power slug tree

the issue is that I ran out of current alt recipes that I can unlock but I know that there was an inventory expansion one that i saw but cant get now. and if getting this inventory space one would technically block me from getting other recipes later then that is probably a bug of its own.

booted the game today, tried to scan. it scanned. it finished and showed only 1 choice, the extra inventory space. No idea why it wasnt working before but its fixed

as I said there is more drives then there are recipes...there will always be left over drives with nothing to unlock
