Explorer Vanishing/Invisible in Cave
I've had to reload three times (third time was another test in a slightly different location) because my Explorer just turns invisible or vanishes leaving nothing to interact with and loses it's collision. I could be wrong and it's fallen through the world which raises another problem. It's gone through two solid objects, the foundations I placed in the cave as a road AND the cave floor itself.

Anyone experienced this issue or seen similar in one of the other caves?

I don't know what triggers the bug, I think it's distance based and I tested it by walking backwards away from it at a certain point the Explorer just phases out of existence and when you move forward again it does not reappear. When I left it outside the cave and did my tasks that I wanted to do and came back It was still there fine.

While this isn't a solution to the problem, did you check to see if it basically teleported back to base/where it was initially created or directly above the caves like its logic for its current position had a problem so it 'snapped' up to the surface?

It's marker shows it's in the spot I left it. It could of spawned up. I'll test again and see if it's somehow despawning and respawning above the cave. Either way it's still a bug and should probably not be happening.

EDIT: I tested your idea (good one by the way), yes it does indeed spawn above the cave.

Why is it doing this? Why is it doing it in line of sight of the player and at modest distance.

I don't know just how this game nor its coding/logic with things like this work thus this will likely be unhelpful and not be anything towards a solution.... again, but just more trying to work out *why* it may've happened: I can only assume that for some reason, when you reach a certain distance away from it, a location check is made for vehicles so the game knows where they are to keep them in place, but for some reason it sees the ground it's currently on in the cave as invalid or thinks the surface above the cave where you found it is where it actually is so the next time it runs a check for that it plops it there.

It makes logical sense maybe it's a workaround by the devs where before they fell through the world when left in caves, solution was to have them pop out up above. Who knows.

My follow up question to that would be what happens to trains and trucks. I have a feeling trucks would despawn and respawn rendering them (more than they already are) useless for transporting resources out of a cave. Player is better to belt feed things to exit instead. Trains are a toss up. I have no idea if they'd follow the same logic or because they're glued to their track they'd be fine.

At least I'm aware of what is happening and if it happens again I know where to look. Hopefully the devs see this or know about to fix it. It's not huge issue just puzzling at first and mildly annoying.

Thanks for the help. Leave it at that unless anyone else has something to add. If somebody uses the search function maybe they'll discover the issue and know what happened to their explorer without having reload saves thinking it's gone or whatever.
