Drone ports selecting wrong destination
This is a game-breaking bug for me. Please read. I have over 2,000 hours playing and I've seen this bug before in early access and it is back in 1.0.

I use drones extensively. At some point - perhaps because of the number of active drone ports? - when you select a destination port, the "relevant" drone port IS NOT the selected destination.

For example: Today, I set a drone port to collect resources from my "Container Supply" port.

The destination port lists the "Container Supply" port, but the relevant port switches to some other port (in this case it is a compacted coal port). Because the drone goes and collects the wrong resource, all belts get fouled and entire factories go down.

This is game breaking... please FIX.

I figured this out - there is no protection against having 2 or more drone ports with the same name (fix this please)...

I had 2 drone ports with the same name and that hosed all drone port's ability to select a destination port.

The droneports are definitelly not working, it started for me today when I reached about 28 ports in total. Now even if i delete old ports and create new ones and select the destination, the relevant ports always comes up wrong and drones deliver goods somewhere else.
I found this thread which suggests there is bug with the drone ports indeed.

I can't seem to continue playing this now since everything has been designed and future premade for drones in my factories around the map and no new drone paths can be added :(

I believe this worked.

I was naming by a formula: "S:" for sources, "R:" for receives. Obviously there were multiple "R: Battery"

I went back and added destination tags, "R: Battery - Oil and Fuel" or "R: Battery - Nitrogen Processing"

Now the bug seems to be gone.

So if you're having trouble, double check for duplicate names. Or just have a naming scheme that prevents duplicates.

Hey guys !

So, the reason why drone are selecting random destination is because you have multiple drone port with the same name.

In my game, four drone port were named "." by a friend and at some point it completely bugged the drone ports.

The solution to that is to rename all drone ports to make sure that they do not share the same name ! It worked perfectly on my game and now everything is back to normal.

Hope it helps !

I comeacross this bug with no ports in the same name. I name all my ports like this:
iron ingot 00
iron ingot 01
iron ingot 300
iron ingot 500
and so on
and i just have 12 port totally...

but I'll try your method

Concur with the above solution. Cant have identical drone port names. Messes up the drone addressing logic or something. Experienced this issue this morning after making 2 drone ports and both naming them "Silica Unload" last night. Took a minute to work it all out but once I deleted one of the duplicate ports I had no further issues with new drone ports selecting the correct location.

THANK YOU! this was exactly my issue!

Thanks, renamed duplicate port and then had to go around and fix a bunch of destinations but it appears everything is working again now

I don't have duplicate port names, but still the drones pick the wrong destinations. And nothing helps to solve this bug. It's been written about here for a month, but the developers either don't want to fix it or can't, it seems

I started using drones two weeks ago and this problem just hit me hard. I have around 60 and now parts of the world are shutting down. My heart sank after I realized how bad everything was broken. I really don't want to have to track down and rebuild.

I went in and tried to rename and relink the others, no luck. When I tried to delete them then it just switched to another drone spot, breaking it. https://imgur.com/a/jmtdlxk
