I open Satisfactory on Steam, but PLATFORM says Epic Games??
I own an Epic Games account.
I have the Epic Games Launcher and Unreal Engine installed.
I un-linked my Steam link through Epic Games settings.
I don't own Satisfactory on Epic Games.
I own a freshly installed Satisfactory on Steam.
I open Satisfactory on Steam.
Satisfactory thinks I'm on the Epic Games Platform.

Why?

I can't join my friend's game who's hosting on the Steam platform. The game doesn't even try. Just stuck at the menu.
I can't even start my own Multiplayer game with the session type selected as Steam. It doesn't even try to load it.

How can I get the Online Settings > Account Info > PLATFORM to show as Steam when it is Steam I'm opening it with??

Up. Been having the same issue as well. Tried Verifying game cache at least about 10 times already, tried restarting Steam and everything. Nothing worked.

As far as I know the game uses Epic Online Services (EOS) for multiplayer regardless if you are using the Epic or Steam version.

EDIT:
Here is the FAQ regarding EOS

You might need to try to reset your account link

The FAQ mentions something about "Reset Account Linking" which I could not find in my game's settings, nor the "Online" category.

Upon further searching I found someone suggest running the game as an administrator, but the game just crashes before the splash screens even show up. I have a fresh install and even tried validating my game files again, didn't work.

This made me think that the game was probably trying to access some files but something seems to prevent it from doing so, which is strange because this didn't happen before 1.0

Thinking that using my second windows user might be causing it, I tried switching to the first account... Booted the game and somehow I can see my Steam login again (much to my relief)

Its the link in that section.

AFAIK That will unlink your steam ID from the EOS ID on their backend systems regardless of the link state.

Tried this already, it's been 4 days and no response in my email. I'm not sure if this is even reliable so I'm not expecting it to be.

.

I did try more resolutions... I'm not sure if it will work for everyone, but for my case I do use a second account in my computer so the admin access is somewhat limited. I feel like this is causing problems with the game.

I go to the file location of the game and run FactoryGameSteam.exe as an administrator. Normally this would cause the game to crash in the loading screen, but somehow it restarts itself and the second time works -- with my Steam account logged in.

It can be a little inconsistent at times but so far it has worked multiple times for me.
Also worth noting that I was able to link my Steam to an actual Epic Games account (this was also AFTER I encountered this Epic Platform issue), I'm not sure if that has an effect whatsoever though.
