Disk write error
I'm getting this error trying to install the second smaller update, none of the usual tricks seem to fix it. Anyone able to help? I'd like to play.

Check free storage space. Otherwise it could be a hardware failure.

by chance did you get a trigger on your antivirus? avast isolated this file suspecting as a trojan: FactoryGameSteam-GeometryAlgorithms-Win64-Shipping.dll. I dont know if there will be other files that will be flagged too...

Can CoffeeStain confirm that it is alright and no malware in the game?

Same here :(
Happened after trying to verify the game files because I had this error message:
"...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Satisfactory\Engine\Binaries\Win64\FactoryGame-Win64-Shipping.exe" FactoryGame-NO_EOS_OVERLAY CreateProcess() returned 2."

Definitely not a hardware error. I have reinstalled the game three times on different drives/disks and the same error pops up everytime.

Avast has an issue with False positives. They also got in trouble for selling user data without notifying consumers and have had numerous data breaches including one just this year but that is besides the point.

Just use Windows Defender, better than the free version of Avast and 99.9999% as good as the paid version, isn't intrusive, and less performance hungry. Adblock does a better job of protecting against viruses than an antivirus ever could anyways.

But relevent to this, Windows Defending is preinstalled so developers making games for windows makes sure their games don't do things that will get flagged by Windows Defender, where as a 3rd party antivirus its up to the AV company whether they want to fix it or not.

Whether its hardware or some 3rd party anti virus, it isn't the game.

CreateProcess() returned 2 means a there are missing files. Usually because you install a 3rd party antivirus which get jumpy and oversensitive when they aren't trying to get you to pay for a yearly subscription. It's definitely an antivirus flagging and removing files if multiple reinstalls don't at least temporally fix it.

I'm using the paid version of avast, disabled it for now and it seems to work. Thanks all.

Thanks mate! That worked for me! Avast One apparently did delete some of those files without telling anyone ...

installed steam version of the game, avast quarantained a file.
installed epic version of the game, avast had no problrm with it.

clearly there is a problem with the steam version of the game triggering antivirus

I keep asking myself why people pay for software that causes more problems than it solves.

Yeah, Avast quarantined a file, I cleaned out the quarantine, and now it just fails to download the necessary file. Restarted Steam and it still fails. Something is definitely wrong.

If not it wil be rejected every time.
