If you're on a 13th/14th gen Intel chip and get out of memory errors, update your bios!
It's not your video card, even though it says out of video memory error. It's the processor crashing on shader compilation. Updating your BIOS will fix it. I'm on 13900kf, 4090, Gigabyte Z790 Auros Master MOBO. I used to get the out of video memory crashes, especially on Unreal Engine games. Then they released a BIOS update recently to fix those issues. It worked for me.

An update may help, but it's not guaranteed. The 13th/14th gen Intel issue, which has been resolved with the microcode patches included in recent BIOS versions, eventually caused (or if BIOS has not been updated, still caused) permanent physical damage to the CPU.

Depending on the motherboard OEM, the default power settings may be more conservative in newer BIOS versions and the power limits actually work correctly (eliminating dangerously high power spikes that caused the problem) so that may help, but all actual damage is permanent.

Updating your UEFI is risky just to play a game. Is there no other way?

No other way. Have you not heard about this Intel problem? Update your BIOS or your CPU may die if it's not dying already

I think Intel released a testing utility that lets you verify if your CPU is affected or even damaged.

BIOS/UEFI updates today carry far less risk than BIOS the updates of yore. Back then you were free to "update" your BIOS with a file of complete garbage, and the update tool wouldn't have even considered stopping you. Today, however, not only does any good update utility do sanity and signature checks, but it also contains a failsafe to fall back on should the update fail. And even if the failsafe fails, there is typically a way to recover with nothing more than a USB drive loaded with the correct file.

Wow, that was gnarly, but I did it and my computer still works. Satisfactory works as well now. Also I turned on my X.M.P, so I probably got a small performance boost.

Your XMP was likely on before the update. Updating or changing critical hardware (like RAM or CPU) will usually have settings put to their safest options. So clock speeds will be set to their lowest, overclocking disabled, etc.

Good to hear that the update did in fact fix things. I get the original hesitance, but things are much better today.

This fix definitely worked for me! Thank you! Also fixed issues I was having with other Unreal Engine games too. Although Satisfactory was the one game that crashed every single time until I updated my BIOS.

There's really nothing "gnarly" about installing a simple BIOS update, it's easy and is good for the performance of your computer all around
