Game not working with NVIDIA GeForce Experience and can't create desktop shortcut

For some reason I can't use NVIDIA GeForce Experience to optimize the graphics settings for my GPU. Annoying, as this works really, really well with supported games. The game shows up in the list, but the software can't detect the graphics settings. Tried the listed workarounds, no dice.

Also, I can't get Steam to create a desktop shortcut for the game.

EDIT: Verified game files and restarted Windows.

Neither is a major issue. Thought I'd see what the forum has to say before I report the issues.
