fps drops and runs slow?
Game usually runs at 80-110 fps but from time to time, mostly when i start the game but sometimes in the middle of a gaming session fps drops to 15-20 and the game runs sluggish, in the menu it takes about 0.5s before the game reacts to mouse movement and the game in general is unplayable.

Most of the time its enough to restart the game sometimes a couple of times for it to run decent but sometimes i have to restart the computer.

Satisfactory is the only game that does this, games like doom 2016, doom eternal, skyrim, fallout4, wolfenstein 2 + youngblood, factorioo, dyson sphere program and many others runs just fine

My hardware isnt extraordinary but its decent for gaming.
ryzen 5600
rx 6700xt
48gb ram
windows run off a ssd game runs of a m.2
1440p monitor

Had this issue since i started playing think it was update 5 or 6, anyone got a clue why fps and the game runs sluggish from time to time.

You are probably running out of VRAM. Reduce your settings and maybe limit your FPS to something lower.

You sure this isnt the autosave?
The game tells you that its going to save, did you never notice?
Just decrease the frequency.

it has nothing to do with autosave

so what you are saying is that the game needs more then 12Gb of vram to function, sounds extreme

if you notice that the "lag" occurs inside factories with lots of buildings in it, enclose the factory, so that it only happens when you are actually inside of it.
When it happens it happens 100% of the time regardless in game or in the menu before the save have even been loaded.

"usually around 4Kb in late game" its more like 4MB :-)
Since U8 the autosaving stops the game and saves the progress, if you set the default time from 5 minutes higher, it will take longer to save all changes.
when my game autosaves, the fps goes from 45 (4k resolution) to 20 fps.

It's done that since the beginning, it's how this game engine saves without modifying the engine save code. It's how most game engines save game state variables.

Anyway, it sounds like you have a third-party app that is consuming CPU resources occasionally as the game doesn't do anything like that by default. So if it's not autosave, and you have multiple monitors, you can watch the task list and sort by CPU and watch for the one that goes to the top once in a while when the fps drops. Then you can deal with the offending program.

If it's all the time, then you're going to have to mess around with the graphic settings, some people get pretty good results adjusting the clouds/fog setting. Some other settings would probably help too, then after it's NOT lagging anymore, then raise them back up or turn them back on gradually, check to see if the lag is bearable, and adjust all the settings that way, until you are Satisfied with "SATISFACTORY" ha.
its not graphics settings

The game runs in a 1080p window on a 1440p resolution, i had task manager running and from what i can see, no program starts hogging the cpu when the issue starts i have also had the gfx card software running which shows vram usage and im not running out of vram either.

I'm having the same issue than you. So far closing the game and opening it again has fixed the issue each time . there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it either sometimes it happening on first load but again exit the game and go back in and its fine.

I am having the same issue but my system is a lot worse I have a ryzen 5 3600, gtx 1650 gpu, and 16gb of ram at 2200 mhz. I didn't have this issue when i played the game on my laptop which has a ryzen 9 6900hx and a rtx 3050 mobile graphics card.

Hey Raven you ever fix this?

600hours in and all of a sudden game randomly enters like a 2-4fps state which it doesn't come out of?
Happens randomly.

-i went from ultra to low settings = no change.
-Old/new saves affected = it's not the base size.
-cpu/GPU temps are fine.

Specs:
Rtx 3080 (10gb) and Ryzen 5800x with 32gb ram - hardly break a sweat.

Never found any solution other then restarting the game and ultimately, restarting the computer.
Also a problem. Most often observed in a certain place on the map. The place itself is not remarkable except for the presence of a hub and a space elevator. Sometimes this can happen when minimizing and maximizing the game. This is some kind of bug in the game itself.
