i wonder how many boombox's i can get and place with "music" playing? >:)
(also sorry about posting a reply after 1 year of you posting this)
so basically if you try to place a boombox right after switching to another weapon (like frame perfect i think) it transmutes the item you switched to and places it down, but the original boombox that is in your toolbar will now be bugged.
Also if you try to unequip the bugged boombox and requip the bugged box it will crash your game or the server you're playing on.
Here's my theory of why it crashes when you switch to the bugged boombox which i wrote a while ago:
I believe that somewhere in the item data is a var which tracks which tape is in the item, when there is no tape the var = empty,
same goes for which song num is playing from the tape and the rest of the settings like is it paused or what at what time.
So when you place the boombox, it looks for the boombox and what it's data is, copies it to the placed boombox then deleting it, which first removes the item data, then removing it.
However, Swapping to another item right before you place it makes it bug out, it copies over the data from the boombox, then removes the item data for it,
BUT, when it goes to remove the boombox, it instead deletes the item you swapped to, duping the boombox.
So the boombox with no item data tries to find the boombox model that has tape null, but the game doesn't find one, so it just has the pioneer hold nothing.
But when you re-equip the duped boombox it tries to play the mp3 associated with tape null and song num null, (null being literally nothing) which makes the game go "oh ♥♥♥♥, what mp3 do i play?" which makes it crash.
Or, it could be something like the volume, time, or one of the other settings that makes it crash due to a non-existent tape.
HOWEVER, when reloading the game, it for some reason, changes the boombox tape to empty and the other settings to default, which turns the bugged boombox into a real boombox that doesn't crash the game.
