Constant Stuttering every few seconds
The game stutters, especially when moving around, for a very brief period every couple of seconds.

Edit: Stuttering only seems to occur at specific locations especially around starting areas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXjS5Wng_Jc

Stuttering occurs regardless of the following settings/changes:

  • Enabling/Disabling V-sync
  • Adjusting 3D Nvidia settings controls to prefer maximum performance
  • Running the game on minimum settings
[*Running the game in full screen
  • Running the game in windowed mode
  • Running the game in Steam Big Picture mode
  • Running the game on an SSD
  • Updating graphics drivers
  • Reinstalling the game
  • Verifying game cache
  • Disabling Image Sharpening in the Nvida control panel
  • Adjusting Discord setting
  • Disabling hardware acceleration on any possible interfering applications
  • Killing all background applications and unnecessary services while running the game

These are just a few of the possible solutions I've attempted. There seems to be no definitive fix for the stuttering problem.

The game actually does use Unreal Engine's level streaming. You can see real time information about the level streaming if you open the console and type "Stat LEVELS". The levels have X,Y coordinates and are named accordingly, such as "Tile_X1_Y1", "TILE_X1_Y2" and so on. You can see those same tiles in the level editor in this video on the left side of the screen.

https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/Engine/LevelStreaming/index.html
If that's true then why do we get hard stalls (everyone refers to them as 'stuttering') when we load new cells in the game? If they used the streaming function then this shouldn't be happening.

I watched your video and you can very obviously see the foliage and bushes and trees loading out in the distance every time the game is stuttering for you. So that's just what it is, the game is loading in assets and it causes stalls. Exactly like I described.

Try this: In-game press control-shift-L to allow the console, then press ~ or tilde, and type in: stat fps<enter>

That will bring up the in-game FPS counter. I'm going to guess here but you will probably see the FPS flash red colored when you're getting these stutters, which means the game engine is stalling.

Welp, if my Speak & Spell can run it, a real PC like yours should do the job... a quick Google shows that there seems to be a known stuttering issue that happens in certain areas of the map, although no one seems to be able to agree on which specific areas cause the problem.

The thing is, it doesn't seem to be attributed to any particular part of the map from my experience. It's just a very consistent stuttering that happens randomly every few seconds or so while moving around or turning.

Granted, I only recently purchased the game and haven't built anything past the Hub. So this is not occurring while rendering a gigantic complex factory.
Disable Fullscreen Optimizations: Right-click Satisfactory in Steam, Properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files. Right-click FactoryGame.exe, Properties, Compatibility Tab. Check the box for Run as Adminstrator and Disable Fullscreen Optimizations.

Disable Windows Game Mode (Honestly, I just clicked the Start Menu and did a search for Game Mode).

Give em' a shot.
Are you playing on a laptop and getting rocket launcher temperatures? Sounds like thermal throttling. I had this issue, reducing your CPU to 80% helps (game runs just as fine), a cooling pad helps further (if heat is your issue)
Stop trying to change things with your computer. This is part of the game and the developers need to optimize this later. When you play on high graphics settings everyone experiences this with every computer no matter how fast or slow it is. It's because the developers have coded this game to stop and wait for our computer to load all the new data every time we travel in to a new "Cell" in the game world. As of right now it's part of the game and we just have to cope with it and pray they will fix it some day. There is nothing you can do to fix this or make it go away. The game engine does support "Pre-loading" nearby neighboring cells and "Streaming" it when we move through the game world so there's no stalls like this but the developers are not using that feature of the game's engine yet at the current point in the game's progress.

This, and I'm not experiencing stuttering like he does, only places I stutter is next to big working factories (and not all)

Then try driving the Explorer around the world at full speed and you'll definitely see the stuttering problem. Or launch yourself across the map with a tube cannon and you'll -REALLY- see it then.

So he's not talking about the explorer or hypertube
You should really read his post lol

I have 4 friends in real life with crazy overpowered and overclocked computers, along with about 10 friends online that have this game, also with crazy computers. And I've been playing this game myself through the last 2 upgrades and tried it on 4 of my own computers. Everyone I talked to with every computer configuration all has the stuttering.

So when I say "Everyone experiences it" they do. If you aren't seeing it yet then you will see it eventually.

Walking in a new empty world (which is his case) has me with 60FPS consistently (except when it autosaves of course). I have a huge factory, as long I stay far away from it, it doesn't affect the game's performance on my end. Right now I'm playing next to 70 unpowered refineries and I don't get stuttering every 2 seconds like OP does. I didn't get stuttering every 2 seconds when I was next to my 98 powered refineries either. It seems only massive amounts of trains / conveyor belt make my FPS drop, but no stuttering.
The only time my game stutters is when I head to my large assets with an explorer or hypertube like you said. But can't be OP's case
If everyone experienced stuttering like OP does there would be avalanches of posts about it and no one would play the game

As the OP stated the stuttering is when you are moving. You won't see it if you're standing still and not moving. Literally the "Stuttering" we are talking about is when the game loads in new "Cells" in the game world. It's a stall while the engine waits for our computer to load in the assets for everything in the new cell. And there were avalanches of posts about it. Well over a couple hundred unique posts about it on the original Q&A website, and it shows up occasionally (at least once a week) on the new Q&A website as new posts by new people. There are even several bug reports here in the steam forums too. Do remember this game has been out and playable for a little over a year now already. Just because there's not tons of posts about it here on steam doesn't mean it's not a problem.

... did you assume I've spent 300h outside the landing pod not moving?

I've just read these posts, it does seem like a common issue indeed. But they're far from being as bad as OP though (every couple of seconds that's unplayable, you get motion sickness if it doesn't drive you crazy before that, and that's with just a HUB in the world). Doesn't sound like the same issue

Disabled full screen optimizations and windows game mode and ran as administrator with no luck. Still stuttering when I move around.

At this point I think I agree with Aquafawks in that it's most likely game related, but then again the stuttering is fairly noticeable on my end with no factory and the fact that many people with lower specs claim their game has never stuttered once still makes me question whether or not it's something on my end.

I will add a video to my original post soon that shows the stuttering on different settings.
