belt placement issue - bug?
i am having placing a belt that should have no issue going in, i am trying to connect the belt to a merger. and i did the same thing on the other side of the merger with out issue. so.. my question - exactly what part of this belt placemement is too steep??

Something is glitching out there, that is a perfectly flat and straight connection, try cycling the build modes for the belt to see if that clears it up.

Ok, but do belts even have build modes? I didn't think they did

Forgot to mention... This problem seems to be occuring on both experimental and normal builds. I also am not using any mods. Image above is an older image (december) using normal build. here is a fresh image on experimental: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2714593787

oddly enough i am able to place the belt if i increase the turn angle by 1 (using mouse wheel)

Belts mk. I - V are doing this. also issue only seems to be occuring if a merger is involved

Will the it work if you place a conveyor pole one spot closer to the merger (one spot meaning the next available placement position)? Also, does the same thing happen when you're not using a hover pack?

Does it still glitch out when you try to make that same connection from the opposite side?

Definitely something weird there. I've had problems like this somewhat recently. I've been having luck with removing all foundations in that area and rebuilding them. I'm not sure if it's the cause, but I've had this problem when using zoop to build foundations. I feel like it has something to do with what you're snapping to when you zoop a row of foundations.

Just tried a similar setup (minus all of the walls belts in the original screenshot) and it's working fine, even with the hover pack.

If I had to guess, it's something to do with your foundations. Very likely that i'm wrong, but that's the best guess I have.

I had this issue earlier today. Placed a splitter on a belt with no issue, but when I tried to run another belt out of the splitter's side, it gave me the "too steep" error.

The splitter was attached to a horizontally-angled belt (not dead straight end to end) and may have been slightly inclined (coming from a lift to a pole below the level of the lift, then up again to the next lift), but the splitter had no issues with being placed on the belt. The pole was maybe one notch below the lift at most. The splitter was not on or near the belt pole. There were no questionable contacts (ghost was blue, not yellow).

I ran a belt from the intended target back to the same splitter and had no problem. Same belt, same angle, in the end.

i can run the belt from the other side but the results are slightly at an abgle for some reason. i can'y seem to place the belt at straight angle. one thing i noticed, was no matter how long the belt was, or how how flat the terrain was, it still would give a belt to steep error if a merger to merger connection was attempted. Here is an perfect example of what i am trying to do. it was built in early december, suggesting to me that maybe the issue maybe recent and started with the spate of small updates right before the holidays. the stuff in the pic was built the day the ficsmas stuff went live and i did not have this weird issue at that point in time.

i think i broke something.... probably the server..... belts that were placed were not appearing, so after the server restarted, the belts appeared. BUT..... the belts on on the stuff i just built is not moving through the mergers or into the storage bins.... and that's not all. there is also this:

apparently i am now making ICBM's. aned befoore you ask.... yes, they are still on the belt.... but for some reason they are hovering... and huge.

The giant fireworks on belts are a known bug, to the best of my knowledge limited to just the fireworks
