Game keeps wanting to install then uninstall UE4 Prerequisites
Trying real hard to play the game but every time I try and open it, it says it needs these components to run and then it wants me to uninstall the program it wanted me to install.

I've gone in this loop of opening game, installing program, it finishes. open game again. uninstalling program (only prompts I'm given), finishes, opens game again, installing program....... I've done this loop so many times now.

Any ideas?

Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Runtime to be exact

Found the fix. Go to unistall program and find Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 and try and uninstall it. There will be two I just did it to both.
It'll open up window where you can either Repair or Uninstall. I Repaired it and all my games that this effected started to work.

Found this a bit ago and posted the fix on CoffeStains forum but forgot here. Sorry

For anyone else looking for an answer: I made sure all windows updates were installed. It still was not working then but after installing the versions

x86: vc_redist.x86.exe

x64: vc_redist.x64.exe

from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads-2647da03-1eea-4433-9aff-95f26a218cc0 manually it worked.

@zachnoll123 thank you for getting back to me, I appreciate it

Would this be the same or similar way to fix this problem on the steam deck?

Yes, (re)installing Visual C++ still often works as a fix for Windows games in 2024 but Steam Deck runs Linux so you probably need a solution more specific to the Deck. You should open a ticket with Steam Support.

PS. Though the best way is to install the All-In-One Visual C++ package, rather than trying to dig out the right version on MS website:
