Loaded my game and my inventory is empty.
All my buildings are in place so it won't take me too long to get going again, but still annoying. All i have is my xeno basher.

A lot of people are having this issue at the moment. I found a fix!
Go to your location of your character (which should still be present) and kill it. Your inventory will spawn in a crate.

You should have gotten an error message about "Failed to create online session". This will always come up if you run the -NoMultiplayer switch in Steam's properties/command line option. However, if you were actually connected, saved, and then received the error when the game reloaded, you were given a new, empty character in the HUB, while the body you were playing in before is wherever you left it.

Killing it will drop an inventory box, though, as Rod said.

For a bit of fun, before you do your shutdown save, dump your inventory into a box, then save and quit. When you reload, if this happens again, you can just loot the box and leave your twin standing there. Do this 3 or 4 times, and you'll have several twins. So, yeah, make sure you leave them parked somewhere they won't be in your way.

Thing is I have no clue where I left here, so I just rebuilt my gear and went on about my business. I lost a few power shards but nothing else important.

Once you unlock the map, you can find your old character. They may even show up on your compass before then, can't recall. I know your box does if you die, but not sure about extra "players". I mean, I would think they would for multiplayer purposes.

This can happen if your internet isn't working correctly. Before you start the game, make sure you start the game your internet connection is online and functioning correctly. Make sure your steam client is logged in and functioning and -NOT- set to "Offline mode". After you start the game if you see the message "Failed to create online session" when attempting to load your save then STOP AND DO NOT LOAD THE SAVE. If you see that message then quit the entire game back to desktop, close and restart the steam client and then start the game and try again until you don't see the error again.

I have this same bug. My character is sitting, drinking coffee, and doesn't react to my zapper. How do I get my stuff back!?

They will react to the zapper. They just have a LOT of health. Keep at it.

Preferably though, quit the game and reload. If you have this "bug" it's because you are "not online" and thus logged in as a new user. Which means next time you load the game up as "online" you will log in to the now dead and inventory-stripped original character.

Thanks, Warlord. I'll keep trying. Was online the entire time. Quitting and reloading doesn't help. Reloading earlier games have the same issue. Tried the experimental version with same results.

Hmm, perhaps you were offline in the first place, and NOW you're online. This would result in the current character being the "new" character.
