FPS
I am 4 houres in the game on the beginners map. Max graphics, usually between 120-144FPS. But often jumps from 100 to 160 FPS. The game feels laggy/stuttering even though i never dive below 100fps. Why?

I am afraid for mid and late-game.

As someone who is in the Late game right now i suggest you get ready to change your sittings. Even with the game at Medium it still looks like a good game.

Possibly set frame limit?

nope

Try not to forget your game is going to render all the items that are being Mined/Made so unless you cover them with Conveyor Covers (Mod) or Foundation's you're going to see some lag coming from this.

This is because it's an Early Access game that isn't optimized yet. This is -NOT A FINISHED GAME- at the moment. They have a lot to do to the game. If you can't handle playing an unfinished game with potential frame drops from time to time then don't play early access games. There's a big disclaimer on the steam store page before you bought the game. Did you even read it?

I understand this Aquafawks, But there are always thing i can do to improve on my end. Maybe things i don't know that can be changed on my PC, in settings, tips, and tricks.
I am asking help, i am not complaining.

In terms of this, no you can not. The problem is in the way they have coded the current version of the game. The frame drops you see is because the game re-loads the scenery every time you turn the camera around. The developers have not yet figured out how to use the game engine to cache the scenery in to memory so it doesn't re-load it's self every time we turn around. They will have to fix it later, on their side, with optimization. Other UE4 games do streaming and have no issues. The developers just haven't implemented it yet with this game. These stutters and frame drops happen for everyone on every computer regardless of how powerful our computers are at the moment with this game. We just have to cope with it if we want to play the game in it's current unfinished state. There is no setting you can change in game to stop this. There's nothing we can tweak or tune to stop it. The developers have to fix their broken game.

So unfixable with a huge change to code so it will alwaye be like this

For now, yes. I have two computers here: Ryzen 5 2600 @ 4.2 Ghz all-core with fast ram, DDR4-3533 @ 12-12-12-1T and two water cooled 1080 Ti's. I aim for 1080p @ 120 FPS minimum on a 120hz screen and I still get frame drops even with that computer. Older chip at the moment.. I'm waiting for the 3800XT AMD CPU's to release here in a month or two and grab one of those.

My second computer is a bit older but still fast. I7-3770K @ 5.4 Ghz, large custom water loop in both machines and a very special older z77 motherboard with 32-phase power and PLX chips. and two water cooled GTX 980 Ti's with DDR3 ram @ 3000 at 12-12-12. (My old computer.. I upgraded away from that to the ryzen one but it still works so I keep it as a backup in case something dies with the new one)

Both machines get frame drops and stutters in satisfactory all the time. Sometimes hard stalls for 1-2 seconds spinning the camera around. I'm trying to tell you that no matter how fast our machines are this game still does this. I have "over the top" setups beyond what most people are using and I still get the stuttering too. It's nothing wrong with your computer.

EDIT: I even have a more pedestrian computer set up in the main room for our HTPC / Media Center system. Intel 3570K and a GTX 1060 6GB, normal DDR4 @ 2666, all air cooled and stock speeds. I tried running the game on that system and still get the same frame drops and stutters as on my big beasty computers.

Not totally sure how accurate that is, on the basis that i see no evidence of pop in when turning around.

Framerate is generally fairly stable on my aging rig, the only drops i see are when entering a new area for it to load in.

So, OP, the way we move forward in a logical manner is to get specs of your machine, and screenshots of the areas causing the frame drops.

At the very least, it might identify a setup the devs need to optimise for.

Make sure you load all graphics settings maxed out in the graphics settings, and then try loading a save with 500~550 hours of play time with big factories built and then try again with your statement.

Dont worry my dude. It will get fixed. It does it to me too. Im running a R53600 OCd to 4.2ghz and a GTX 1660ti and I get the stutters when turning the camera or loading another area. Did it with epic too so its not just the steam release. Ive just gotten use to it. Enjoy the game.

Why would i run the game maxxed out? I'm on an old 8350, paired with a 960. Its about 6 years old and needs a replacement. I do get a bit of stutter here and there, but doesnt seem as bad as what you are experiancing. The game does have an in built bugging ability, which is definatly worth bugging all of this.

Or i've jsut got used to it :)

That's because you're playing on an old slow potato and it's so slow that you couldn't see the stalling and stuttering we're talking about even if you were experiencing it. I doubt you could even maintain 60 FPS in the first place in this game with that rig. If you're not playing with maxed out graphics and trying to maintain a "higher than 60 FPS" frame rate then you won't see what we're talking about.

We're talking about running along at 100-120 FPS average and having sudden drops to 60-75 FPS for a few seconds.
