'Dimensional Depot' sink option
I read in the wiki that they originally were going to have the space elevator be the resource sink but didn't want to force everyone to push their sunk resources back to one central location. On that note, I've had a thought: Dimensional Depots can be available fairly early in the game, and they're basically a form of teleportation...

It might be too much to just delete the 'awesome sink' things outright, but how about adding a 'Send Resources to FICSIT for Tickets' option in the Dimensional Depot? Basically just say they're being teleported straight to the space elevator.

I'd have them be worth the same amount of points, but have a reduced 'diminishing returns' factor as time went on. And it makes more sense to send things somewhere than to shred them for 'research'.

So basically do the same thing the Sink does already but call it something different?

I don't get it.

Awesome sink can "eat" up to 1200 item/minute
Dimensional depot is limited to 240 item/minute

How do you want to manage the overflow of some ressources productions line with a so limied speed ?

smart splitter
Depots dont cost power and sinks, while running, do. Sinks should cost power.
nope.....mod it if you don't like it.

Too easy to sink with what we got.

It's called 'lore', 'immersiveness' and 'making sense'. It says something that you don't get making sense.

You've not argued a valid point yet.

Neither have you, you've basically just trolled me and I bit.

Lore isn't a valid claim - anyone can say that - until you can point out to us why you think this is a valid change/addition - don't expect support.

All your doing is asking for "Easy mode" - do mods then.
There's already mods for an "outgoing dimensional depot" which is what your asking for - and at that point you might as well trash logistics all together.

There would be no point to running belts/pipes anywhere at that point.

And your first reply isn't really a valid argument either, it's just your one-finger salute waving in my face so I waved back in much the same way.

It wouldn't be easier, it would be harder. The power demand of the resource sinks is negligible, and on the dimensional depot side the limits on upload speed plus the limit on the number of dimension depots you can build--they use mercer spheres, which never respawn and can't be produced--makes it a much more limited system despite not needing power.

More importantly, the idea of getting "research data" by stuffing things in an industrial shredder is absurd on the face of it, and it just bothers me that this is the story behind it. The whole plot is that we're supposed to be saving Earth somehow. Why not do it by sending resources back? Unlike the existing sink system, it fits with the plot and makes sense, which is why I'm nonplussed that you claim not to "get it".

Honestly if this were still early access I'd say do away with the old sink system entirely, but with the game released I get that nobody wants a change that big, which is why I proposed just adding this to it. No need to add or remove buildings that would cause problems with some people's setups or invalidate savegames, just an extra menu in the dimension depots, a few lines in the codex, maybe a new quote from ADA, and resources go away instead of getting stored in the cloud.

my dim depots sit on top of industrial containers, if I wanna sink that item, have a Smart Splitter before the Container, going to the sink once both the dim depot and container is full, it overflows to the sink.
I see no point in making the Depot the new sink.

Then you probably didn't read much of what I wrote. It's easy to not see things when you don't want to.

I read what you wrote, I just don't agree with it.
It's a waste of time, better fixing bugs and adding real QoL we actually need more.
Would reskinning/re-lore-ing the AWESOME Sink to be a teleporter instead of a shredder not basically just be the same thing? I don't get what you're suggesting otherwise.

Yeah I don't know. I read your proposal as well and it doesn't really make any meaningful difference to me. It feels arbitrary.

Like what if they made one of the pioneers breasts slightly larger than the other?

Or hey I think they should have made paleberries green...

Just as easy to pretend that the awesome sink is a dimensional depot, how do you know it isn't? Maybe they mislead us all, maybe it's been sending all these materials the entire time.
