Don't try to ride the HUB shuttle

I thought I could ride up on top of the shuttle to the space platform, or at least jump off and parachute down with a good view. Didn't work; instant death just a few seconds after launch AND my death crate is somewhere up in the sky. I'm glad this game autosaves a lot.

Can you get the achievement for reaching the top of the world this way? Now I want to do it.

Disable death crates, when doing something like this… honestly just disable them period… this is now in the General options and doesn’t disable achievements, plus crates can get stuck the terrain still, so not worth having it on.

Ha ha! Nice :) I tried to fly to the space elevator assembly platform using fly mode, but yeah, of course, you can't... the death zone will stop you from going too high up. Fly mode ascent is very slow so you can back down quickly before it kills you but I imagine riding the shuttle is too fast.

Leave your inventory in a box before you go through the kill floor, pick your stuff up when you respawn. Hand slots don't count so you can just send all take all. Riding the HUB drone is an easy way to do the achievement.

I never tried the hub shuttle but I tried to ride drones which launched me pretty far into the air without killing me.

Trying to figure out how you do that - gotta be inside the HUB to launch the shipment in the first place. Is there really that much time to jump up on top of the HUB for this?

Yes, the easiest way to do so as well. But uhhhh, yeah, either empty your inventory, or save first before trying it.

If you time jumping off it right, before it takes you too high, you can glide over the world in zero g with the parachute.

Jetpack up to it after pressing the button. Plenty of time.

Don't even need jetpack, blade runners are enough.

or just have friends and have one of them press the button while you're already standing on it.

Apparently, you can climb an observation tower in time to do this. Or, it's easy if you go ploop in a hypertube.
