what are Dimensional Depots?
OK so don't remember these in EA are they new with 1.0?

If so what exactly are these and what do they do as I am slowing unlocking this area of the MAM.

Any specific thing I need to know to set these up and use them.

I do see they are only limited by the Spheres on the map.

new in 1.0. Instead of only using normal storage things, you can send things into the depot and have access to them in your inventory, no need to go anywhere. You can't automate taking things from it, but it makes building so much better.

In a sense, they boost your stacks of each item type 2-fold. Then later 3-fold. Or put another way, you can carry a stack (and later 2 stacks) of every item type in the game, without accounting for all your personally inventory spaces. So remote building, long range logistics, and my favorite, placing Miners, are way less tedious because you're twice as prepared. Ender chest on steroids?

They are bonus inventory.
You can use them automatically when building, or pull them off the storage directly to your inventory.
You can refill them automatically, by connecting them to factory lines.
An upgrade lets you store items personally, making it a 2 way system. Great for stashing loot from around the map.

While mercer spheres are limited, I believe there is enough that you can max out the upgrade tree and still place over 100 dimensional depots, so you don't really have to think of them as being truly limited.

I think the easiest way to understand how good they are is to start using them. I would recommend you start by hooking up a few dimensional depots to all your core resources; iron plates, concrete, copper wire, that sort of thing. Just put a splitter after the place the resource is made, have one side continue on to whatever it was being used for, and another going into a depot. This will keep the depot stocked so it will constantly give you those resources. You can think of the depot storage as a backpack; at any time you can pull those resources out of the depot into your inventory, and they will just be automatically used by your personal building and crafting activities. It is perfect for supplying yourself with the resources needed for building conveyors, foundations, pipes, and other such buildings that you place a ton of while working on a section of factory, without taking up dozens of inventory spots.

And remember, you can use more then one for a product. I have 10 DDepos for a Concrete to match their uploading speed to my usage speed for 5x5 foundation blueprint. So I don't have any issues paving biomes in instance.

Before using all my mercer spheres for depots: are spheres needed for anything else later in the game? I am currently in tier 6.

Only used in Depot Uploaders (1 each) and the MAM research for them.

The research increases the storage size and speed.
iirc thers 298 spheres to find in the world. 98 are needed to fully upgrade, so you have 200 left to build depots with.

+1 to what others have said here on its purpose. If trying to find locations, you can go to https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map and even load your save game to see what you've already found and what remains...Far more useful than just the map view.

yeah I've used this map before plan on using it again once I get the next phase sorted out as just unlocked 7 & 8 so have to rethink for the next phase.

ALL the SAM stuff seems a tad confusing at first but holy crap they are sweet. I recommend you set a splitter at the end of your production lines to feed them items you use a lot—things like concrete, conveyor belt materials and consumables like jetpack fuel.

Basically they are an "item mall" you keep in your pocket that you can pull from any time, any place.

how accurate is the map as I uploaded my save as I did in the past and I know it's the right one because I moved my elevator last night and it is showing in the correct spot so it's the right save file but I went to the sphere that was closest to my base but can't find it anywhere.

I know there is a cave below but the sphere is clearly being shown outside the cave boundaries. I have clears all the bushes up top to make sure it's not hiding but nothing Can't even hear it indicting tome it's there no sound from it at all if it is and in the cave don't see any walls that can be blow up to find a hidden chamber.

Are there flaws with the map especially with 1.0 just being released?
