You can use them automatically when building, or pull them off the storage directly to your inventory.
You can refill them automatically, by connecting them to factory lines.
An upgrade lets you store items personally, making it a 2 way system. Great for stashing loot from around the map.
I think the easiest way to understand how good they are is to start using them. I would recommend you start by hooking up a few dimensional depots to all your core resources; iron plates, concrete, copper wire, that sort of thing. Just put a splitter after the place the resource is made, have one side continue on to whatever it was being used for, and another going into a depot. This will keep the depot stocked so it will constantly give you those resources. You can think of the depot storage as a backpack; at any time you can pull those resources out of the depot into your inventory, and they will just be automatically used by your personal building and crafting activities. It is perfect for supplying yourself with the resources needed for building conveyors, foundations, pipes, and other such buildings that you place a ton of while working on a section of factory, without taking up dozens of inventory spots.
The research increases the storage size and speed.
Basically they are an "item mall" you keep in your pocket that you can pull from any time, any place.
I know there is a cave below but the sphere is clearly being shown outside the cave boundaries. I have clears all the bushes up top to make sure it's not hiding but nothing Can't even hear it indicting tome it's there no sound from it at all if it is and in the cave don't see any walls that can be blow up to find a hidden chamber.
Are there flaws with the map especially with 1.0 just being released?
