Tractor Gone Missing
So I made another Tractor to get past this one area without having to deal with Stingers(I used explosives to clear the area then walled things off to secure the area) and when I got back to the initial area my previous tractor was gone, I know I did not dismantle it, I checked the map, the map says its still there in the spot I left it in, but its completely invisible and not intractable as if im walking through empty space... I can always make another one yeah but the sudden disappearance is a little annoying. I tried Satisfactory Support page and there was nothing there but a coming soon image, Steam says it cannot doing anything so what do I do?!

Sincerely,

Masuta Hitokiri

I've only had a vehicle do a disappearing act on me when parked one inside a cave, never experienced problems in 'outside' areas.

One option you could try would to be to load up your save game on the SCIM[satisfactory-calculator.com], right-click on your tractor and use the 'Update position', set the Z height to some high value, then download the save game, place that file in your Satisfactory save-files directory. Hopefully with a high enough Z height that's above ground, it'll fall toward the surface and you can continue to use it. Not tried this myself, but not see a reason why wouldn't work.

Im not sure if I trust that site, however that is a good Idea and I am grateful for the suggestion! It was in a cave however I had another tractor parked there too and it did not do a disappearing act so I dont get that. There was nothing in the tractor of value it was just a transport vehicle as I went out to adjust my 4M ramps to be 2M before I unlock trucks, I read that those cannot go up 4M ramps

I have used SCIM loads of times. It's open source too.

Sometimes if you leave a vehicle parked on open ground, if the game doesn't load/unload that area of the map quite right (e.g. when loading the game) the vehicle will load before the ground collision and the vehicle can fall through. It's rare, and more rare now compared to before Update 8, but it does happen.

This is especially true of caves, which are not loaded at all if you're more than a short distance away from them.

The preventative workaround is to always try and park your vehicles on foundations.

The only way to get your vehicle back now, is to revert to an earlier save, or use SCIM as described above.

It is definitely worth fixing, as a vehicle stuck below the world is a constant source of game lag.

Was it in a cave?

I'm aware of two situations where a vehicle can go missing.

1) If left for a while inside a cave. It will "teleport" to the surface, right above the cave. Look for it on the surface, right above the point in the cave.
2) In multiplayer, dedicated server in particular, vehicles can sometimes "sink" into foundations and become stuck there, sometimes become invisible too.

These are both bugs that hopefully will be addressed in 1.0.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

It was in a cave but I stayed within I'd say 4-5Meters in game. I will check on top the cave section, and will look into the site being referenced, Im just cautious about visiting sites im not familiar with, especially in this day and age.

I am grateful for everyone's responses, thank you for helping me with this matter, I am grateful for the help! :-)

I hope the truck did not fall through the world, as for lag my game runs comfortably even though its not the fastest. Only issue is the occasional crashing of the game but thats why I left the auto-save function at every 5 min so I dont have to go back and do all the work I just did. lol

So i am guessing you never visit the steam site on the web then because you cant be familiar with it.

You cant be familiar with a site you have never visited so will never become familiar with any site you have never been to at some previous point in your life.

Security software and dont be dumb.

So I tried the site, I cannot find my save file to upload. I keep my save files on external drives like SSD or flash drives to save space on my PC, one of the things I found out one can do with steam games so you can play them anywhere, I can play the game from where I keep the save file, and have it listed to save there instead of cloud, though I do have it backed up in the cloud as well. Either way I cannot find my save file in the folders to upload to try to find and or remove the truck that disappeared, I did try though.

Thank you to everyone who suggested the site

Open file explorer to the right of the 3 arrows + reload button is a place you can put in addresses like the below. The address here is local to your machine.

here %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\(name of saved game folder here)
so just copy and paste --> %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved will get you there.

Windows search is absolutely trash so that probably wont directly help.

I have been using this site for years without issues. Note that the link to SCIM is also in this Pinned post. It would not be there if there were issues with it.

Wouldn't hurt to read all of the Pinned posts on all of the sub forums here.

By default, your save file is in a folder here with a bunch of numbers.
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\BunchOfNumbers

Replace Username with your user name on your pc.

Hi Masuta

The only times I had vehicles disappearing were, when I had this vehicles underground (like in a cave). As you lose sight the vechicles get teleported to the surface. In my case it was the tallest mountain of the map, which is directly over the cave. It happened several times.
Flash✪Gordon Jul 17, 2024 @ 10:16am
Update: 4-5 meter doesn count. You turn your back to the vehicles it teleports up to the surface.

I managed to get the save file and remove the tractor, thank you everyone for helping.
