Steamworks features
Why this game has more Epic """Social""" features than Steamworks implementations?

- Looks like the Ingame Friend list only works on Epic (and why we even have it in the menu on steam?)
- Why there is a pointless epic service running in the background even if 70% only plays with steam friends?

A good Steamworks experience without all this Epic service stuff would be much better.

Epic gives a ♥♥♥♥ about Consumer Features so why you even use their capitalistic Services? There are other ways to bring cross platform and Epic is not in the position to force every other Platform to build in their ♥♥♥♥ only to play with Epic Consumers. (and you dont need them to make a Unreal Engine Server multi platform)

When I run my dedicated server I see more EOS ♥♥♥♥ that anything else... what are all those ♥♥♥♥ api's?

It was on Epic before Steam for a year, and the game uses Unreal Engine, so it was kinda build with Epic in mind 1st and steam after the fact... plus the one year on Epic gave CSS an infusion of cash, from Epic, to help them work on the game.

I play around with unreal engine myself and you dont need Epic Online Services for multiplayer (maybe they try to force this in the future...).
And for cross platform you could build your own simple service to connect cross platform players with a session key or ip. Even Steamworks has some api stuff to allow connection from other platforms to a Game that build on steamworks without the need to connect accounts and other ♥♥♥♥.

We don't know the Deal CSS made with Epic, they may had to add that stuff as part of the deal.

From the pinned thread "Satisfactory Info & FAQ"

Epic Online Services

What is Epic Online Services (EOS)?
Epic Online Services is an open set of tools and services that help game developers and publishers build their games. We use EOS to establish all peer-to-peer network connectivity between players regardless of firewalls or router setups across platforms. Using these tools also enables us to allow cross-play between the Steam and Epic versions of the game.

Do I need to have an Epic Games Account to connect to EOS?
No. No extra accounts are needed to be set up.

Will an Epic Games Account be created for me if I play online?
No.

By using EOS, what information do I share from my account?
The only data that is accessed is your public Steam ID.

Will this install or require an install of Epic Games Launcher on my Computer?
Nope.

What does making an EOS connection mean?
To play online in Satisfactory you will need to connect to EOS either by using your public Steam ID, or optionally share the EOS connection between your steam ID and Epic Games Account.

No matter what option you pick you will always be able to find and play with your steam friends, and play cross-play via an in-game session ID.

If you choose to share the EOS connection between your steam ID and Epic Games Account you can be online on both accounts at once. Meaning, You will in addition to seeing your steam friends also be able to find your Epic and be able to join them in-game.

I want to unlink my account from EOS! How do I do that?
In the Main Menu go to Options > Online > Reset Account Linking

You will be prompted to unlink your EGS and/or Steam account. Doing this will give you the option to relink your accounts if you so choose.

If the above method of unlinking doesn't work please use the following form to contact us to manually unlink your accounts here[satisfactorygame.com].

Can I disable the EOS Connection if I just wanna play single-player?
Yes! You can add the launch argument: -NoMultiplayer to the game to disable all multiplayer related connections.

You can set launch options by right-clicking on the game in your library and set it under Properties > General > Set Launch Options

bro I really need to list the de-sozial things? If you don't use the whole package of the holy list of Features Gabe gives us because you only play mainstream ♥♥♥♥ than this is your problem. There are zero Social features and no communication with game devs. You can't even write reviews and the rating stars are complacently scam. Shows how consumer friendly epic is by creating a platform perfect for selling today trash/scam games. Even after 100 years when your game makes no money steam still host all community features (like Mod Store, Game Server list, Forum and all those Features ...). Thats the big difference.

Whatever. It simple feels like the devs are epic fanboys by implementing naive all those pointless Epic Online Services Features. (that does nothing and only fellow a capitalistic strategies for the future) And after maybe 5 years you cant play because the P2P tunnel service is down...

I mean whats the point of it? If you really have this lost friend on Epic there is no difference if you would share a session key or simple your IPv6 address. (For privacy trash-talk: if you know the session key than you could get the host IP too)

If they would stop supporting this trash they could bring other steamworks features like Steam Workshop, Steam Game Server List (or even if needed P2P from Steam) and more.

If you buy a game on a platform that hasn't a mod store and other stuff its your own fault. (not even to mention that steam allows those people to download workshop mods even without the game with simple commands)

Worst Case Multiplayer would be strictly Dedicated Servers, which aren't that hard to setup locally, with a little know how.
And I don't care About Steam workshop stuff anyway... never used anything there, probably won't, as I don't really do mods...

You've already been given the answer. The game was exclusive of the epic store. The workshop is not a big deal, Skyrim doesn't have one. When you have played enough with ue, I hope your game will conquer us all.

Yes, and Steam Workshop is great. Installing a mod with just a mouse click is the best a gamer can dream of. For me personally a big bummer that Satisfactory doesnt have it.

And yes, I already know the "epic-arugment" against Steam Workshop from the usual, perpetual defenders. It wouldnt be any problem to implement a second hook/interface/API for mods. of course then the defenders would then lament that this Steam-Plus-of-Joy-and-Simpleness is soooo unfair for Epic gamers, hence it's better (in their logic) that nobody can have it.

What "yes? Oldrim has been in the trash for a long time and Skaryim se does not have a workshop.

Most of the people writing here are people who have the game on Steam and there is no point in defending the epic. The developers themselves said this. They don't want to divide players into Steam and Epic. The fact is that the game at the start was exclusive to epic and it’s not fair to abandon these people who were the first to support the development. So people simply support the developers' decision. There is no confrontation.

Personally, I don’t care where to get mods in the workshop or with one click in the mod manager.

Yeah, back is back and now is now. Get over the past, this is not Israel - Palestine.
Epic players can still use the usual mod loader, Mr. "Fairness".

It just makes Steam players game experience 10x better if there is a fully operational Steam Workshop for Satisfactory.

Really have zero understanding for this "it's unfair if they are happier than us" crying.

Also Skyrim is a great game not least because it has an excellent Steam Workshop were mods can get installed with one simple mouse click !!!
