Charcoal vs. Solid Biomass
I unlocked alternate Receipt Charcoal, so I could convert wood directly into coal instead of the more complex process of solid biomass. Which one is more efficient and is coal more useful fore vehicles than solid biomass?

For Vehicles Solid Biomass is better
I only use the wood to coal recipe for making filters real quick if I'm running low, as I'm usual far away from any coal

now we can just toss a stack in the pocket space for such emergencies but i agree thats about the only real use for it least till we get automated bio harvesting

Charcoal is a nice recipe for selfimposed challenges. Any other purpose I haven't found for it yet. The advantage of biofuel is that you can process it into jet pack fuel later in the game.

Solid biofuel has more energetic value AND it stacks higher, so for practical use I always prefer biofuel over coal. If you stick a stack in your inventory or a vehicle it will last much longer. A stack of solid biofuel (200/stack) has exactly 3x more energy than a stack of coal (100/stack).

Charcoal is one of those alt. recipes that is useless (for the reasons other people have already given).

It's actually worth more leaving it locked into a HDD on the menu, so it can never come up again ><
