FPS drop ocasionally
Hi everyone, this is an issue that I was experiencing in 0.8 but 1.0 seems more prominent.

So, whenever I move to a certain area (could be to do with the amount of stuff I have, but my factories are not even that big), sometimes there is an instant FPS drop, and game stays there until I save, and quit to main menu and re-load save, sometimes when I'm lucky it will only stay like that for few seconds and goes back to normal.

My guess is that the game is still rendering/loading the area and any production which is fair enough, but as I said most of the time it keeps the FPS low even after waiting a while for it to catch-up, only save re-load works.

Anyone else experienced the same issue?

Yeah it does sound like the game is loading some things in. I don't have the issue, but my PC is far from what most people use so I can't really help you there. The only weird FPS drops I've encountered was once when I used a nobelisk my framerate dropped to like 10fps for a few seconds, then recovered isntantly.

Thanks man, yeah that's what happens in my lucky scenario lol, it drops down for a few seconds (finishes loading I guess) and then it goes back to normal, but most of it its the case of re-loading the save I'm afraid :/

16GB RAM?

Like what are you expecting exactly. To download more ram?

I've run this game on Iris XE graphics with 16GB system memory at 40FPS and it sucked.

Maybe it happens when the autosave kicks in? Also as you play saving will take more and more time on account of the save file growing as you build more stuff, so it will become more noticeable when it happens.

Correct autosave in this game serializes the save data and relies on a single core. It will hang the game once you build enough stuff.

Tried the autosave, set it to 30 minutes, same things happen :(

That sounds like the game loading world chunks. I get it too occasionally, but it hasn't been so bad. But with my factory growing, I've been getting the occasional fps losses due to factory effects which have felt much worse. My normal fps is around 200 and I'm getting dips to 120, but they feel much worse than they should. I see them visually and feel them as input lag as if they were dips to 30 or something. I didn't used to get them in earlier updates.

If you have a Nvidia card then update your driver to the newest one...someone was complaining about your same issue and the new driver took care of it.

I have a Radeon and have the latest driver, updated a couple of days ago.

Tbh, you're probably running out of VRAM.

If textures stop loading in, like on Enshrouded or any other GPU intensive game, that means you ran out of VRAM. :3

OR take time to load in. Same thing.

The game does some dynamic loading when you move around the map. So basically from my understanding if you go into an area where you haven't been in a while it may take a second and drop frames till the content is loaded.

Things that can help this;
A very fast drive, NVME helps a bunch.
As much RAM as you can stuff into the system and afford.
Adjust RAM timings and speed to maximize them.
A decent CPU that has fast single core ability. The Ryzen X3D CPU's are really good as well since they have a ton of cache too.
At least 8GB VRAM is minimum and 11 has worked well for me (GTX1080 ti)

Since OP doesn't list specs it's tough to tell where things could be having an issue. However if you are trying to push settings to the MAX FPS and quality with a less than ideal setup the stutters will be there at times.

Not sure if this is the same but I experiend repeatedly too fps going down by half after many hours of continous play but no visual issue, textures where still as good. Saving and reloading the save fixed it so probably some ram/vram issue as you say
