That said, who care? It's a pve game, with mods available. If anything looks tedious then it's fine to look for a solution.
Not like you're streaming and pretending to play pure vanilla while not.
For me I tend to avoid mods as It ruins the feeling of progression (you EARNED that jetpack). But in the other hand I most likely won't keep playing once I'll finish the game (all the tiers, the story).
It's a non-competitive game, so there is no cheating, and whatever helps you enjoy the game is reasonable.
I wonder how you can believe otherwise, but feel free to elaborate.
No, it's not a plain fact. It's only your opinion. Who am I cheating when using mods? Who loses when I use mods? Who am I getting an edge over with mods? Where is the competition?
In competitive multiplayer, yeah, there can be cheating. There is no cheating a singpleplayer games. There is no law that says I have to play the game the way it was designed. People customize cars and bikes, why do you think customizing games for your own use is "cheating"?
There are no leader boards nor rankings of any kind.
I think that qualifies as elaborating.
As for the strange discussion about "cheating", ask yourself this.
Is "up up, down down, left right, left right, b a" a cheat code or not? xD
I just wanted to know whether or not most players use some sort of fly mod in Standard mode instead of the built-in travel systems.
"Cheating in video games involves a video game player using various methods to create an advantage beyond normal gameplay, usually in order to make the game easier."
What if someone uses mods to make the game "different" not "easier"? Mods even exists that make games harder. Also, AGS is built into the game so that's "cheating" too?
"Anything beside vanilla is cheating" is just utter nonsense.
By definition, you ARE cheating when you use anything that gives you an advantage over normal gameplay. And in the case of your argument, 'you' are the one being cheated on, you are cheating yourself. Nobody is telling you how to play, indeed there are now laws. But just realize that you are cheating when you stray from the path in order to give yourself an advantage. I'm unsure why you have such a hard time admitting to this :)
For example: I personally changed the setting to NOT lose my inventory on death. That means I now have given myself an advantage, other than the devs intended in the default setting. So therefor I am cheating. See how easy that was? :) I am a cheater. Now you try!
No, obviously not. The vast majority of all players of any game don't use mods.
It was fun realizing that building is so much easier when you do it from tower. Before that it was more of a struggle. Going from method A to method B was a fun experience for me.
I use it because my brain needs to use a top-down view when placing machines. Then I end up slacking and using it to move around because it's faster. I also research all the tech for jetpacks and what have you and try to use them, but get frustrated with the inability to fly around the whole map.
Still on update 8 as I like mods, so I'm currently playing with the Power Suit mod. It'll mean more research and build chains, but it sounds like I can fly around for as long as I have fuel, which is ideal for me.
I don't think that is a fact... Steams workshops and sites dedicated to hosting mods alone suggest otherwise
