The Jetpack and the Perks of the different Fuels (NOT about generators, NOT about hoverpack)
I really :heart13: my jetpack.
So I decided to create an dedicated discussion on that topic.

  • Normal fuel: Just skip that entirely!

  • Bio Fuel: Amazing reach. It carries me twice the distance.

  • Turbo Fuel: My personal favorite. Though it doesn't carry me as far I find it super convenient. I need to tap a lot less. That is very relaxed. And in vertical biomes I gain altitude very fast without getting a cramp in my thumb.
I haven't Rocket Fuel and Ionized Fuel so far, that's why I am curious and already tested the waters in another thread:

ionized fuel lasts longer. if you want to fly and not die. get yourself some packaged ionized fuel.

My questions:

==> Is Ionized fuel just like a better version of Liquid Bio Fuel (even more reach) or is it hopefully rather like a better version Turbo Fuel? To which one is it more akin?

==> Same question for Rocket Fuel. And how Rocket Fuel compares to Ionized Fuel.

Thanks for enlightening the topic and sharing your experience :steamhappy:

Inevitably, someone will bring up the Hoverpack, so it might as well be me. Have you researched that yet? I much prefer the Hoverpack over any Jetpack, although the Jetpack will always have that Sean Connery Thunderball appeal.

I unlocked the hoverpack before yesterday and compared to Update 8 it got a lot better. I begin to :heart13: it too. I begun to build power poles between my power towers. It's not as fast, but I can fly very high and the view is really excellent.

At anytime I can equip the zipline tool change on the fly between hovering and ziplining, et vice versa.

But let's not sidetrack!

For each packaged ionized fuel you have more joules, than even the rocket fuel and much more than turbo fuel, aka more power and performance for a given packaged product. Once you unlock and get the synthetic power cells ionized fuel is easy to manufacture.

I know about the energy aspect. But ... The jetpack is unique in the sense that different fuels have different perks.

For instance it makes energy wise no sense that Liquid Bio Fuel carries you twice as far than Turbo Fuel. But it's just like that. That is it's perk.

The perk of Turbo Fuel is that you need to tap a lot less. :heart13: it!

So what about the perks of Rocket Fuel and Ionized fuel? Are there none or are there some, this is the question.

I am currently using rocket fuel and I switch back to hoverpack (yes hoverpack is SLOWER) but jetpack is GREAT for exploring and traveling up and down.

I believe ionized fuel get best bang for usage.

Lets talk about the perks with more precison, from engineer to engineer.

What *exactly* is changing? Which parameter is this "bang"?
As you see in my OP there are different parameters AKA different "bangs".

Ditto - hoverpack was designed for construction - I also use it when I'm slow exploring/hunting - yeah have to bring powerpoles with me but its great when it comes to tactical situaitons.

Jetpack ill bust out for highspeed/cliff climbing situations. Course I'm using Turbofuel at the moment.

Oh it works for travel - its just not as fast.

maybe you two can open an own "hoverpack thread" ;)

I still try to find out about the exact parameters of the different fuels. Would you know something about that - did you unlock the fuels and try it with the jetpack?

The perk is here

Each type of fuel is how much distance you can go "up" with it.

I am crazy. I love my parachute.

I found that I can use my parachute to fly up some parts of the terrain.

I use it to float down from my sky frame which is holding up my radar network. During this gradual fall, I can scout out the area.

Parachutes don't need an electrical network or fuel. Lol

You do know you only need one parachute right? Acts more like a Glider now... Ever Play Just Cause? Acts kinda like the chute in that game.
I barely use the Jetpack since the Parachute changes in Update 8.

On Topic
So with a quick test on my AGS save,
Not really seeing a difference with Rocket and Ionized fuels.
Man you get some height tho.
Liquid Biofuel just Last forever, So that is going to be my go to for Jetpack Fuel, As I'm generally just using it to maintain a certain height or directional control
I'll use Rocket Fuel if I need the height Boost.

In all fairness - if he's played the game longer than most - he prob didn't know that you only need one parachute - people don't read patch notes.

But then again - this is "B" we're talking about here >.>;

Liquid biofuel is the best for long distance exploration. You can stay in the air much longer AND cover the most horizontal distance with liquid biofuel.

Slide jump yourself off a MK6 belt or hypertube cannon? Yeah, you can fly across the entire map with a single unit of liquid biofuel.

You are wrong. if you want to stay in the air that's difference than traveling

You really need to stop doing that.

Nope, you are wrong. Staying in the air *is* travelling, when done while at high speed. That's how planes work you know. Granted rocket fuel works great for that too, possibly just as well as biofuel, but that wasn't the part you were arguing.
