Mycelia without destroying foliage
Hey peops,

i wanted a challange for myself. with 1.0 i started a new savegame and i didnt want to destroy any foilage till i get the last phase of project assembly in early game that was a bit clunky without much biomass but it worled my problem now like the title says is mycelia. is there a way to get that without destroying foliage?

I don't think there is.

You can hand pick some in caves but i'm not sure if you consider that destroying foliage.

I know there are places with tons of those small blue mushrooms, like some caves and I think near / in the red forest. I don't know if they grow back. Does picking up a mushroom count as destroying foliage?

It's considered foliage - so no.

No, but you can keep it to a minimum, with the small mushrooms you can pick up without the chainsaw.

There in a couple places, the one I know well is the cave that runs from the rocky desert, runs under the red jungle pillars to Dune road to Western Dune Forest

I always thought the definition of foliage pertained to leaves.

Fair enough but I think his foliage term in this context is more of harvesting anything on the ground etc.

Unless he wants to make an exception - but then that turns into a slippery slope.

Tons of dead wood laying around out there, but you would risk accidentally picking up some leaves.

Now the question is "why"?

Are you using it to make cloth? go crude oil route to make cloth is easier than hunting for Mycelia for biomass is not a great option (too much use for making early cloth) I would stick with wood and leaves (those respawn and plentiful)

Plus biomass burner are GREAT since they only burn IF you are needing power. It will go standby and does not burn anything. Plus I recommend to go biofuel logs so it is more efficient ;)

Yeah , you can use it for biomass, cloth, or inhalers. And there are substitutes for all of those.

Thanks :) I forgot about inhaler. then again, I am a scardy cat so I ONLY use homing ammo. I burn those like there is no tomorrow and have those auto load into my dimension depot.

I hardly die so I do not make too much inhaler since I either bomb/shoot many to death from high above!!!!

You still need some for MAM research to unlock some things... namely the both recipes for fabric.
If I counted it right Bare Minimum you need 205 Mycelia
The rest can be done with the polyester fabric... You need 60 fabric for the rest of the research and 10 to make the Parachute.

The problem is solved.

In my current save I try to do exactly the same and found some solutions for me.
