Priority power switch & Hoverpack
I've read that there's an issue with machines going idle for a couple seconds if they are under a priority power switch network and hoverpack get in proximity.

I was planning to upgrade my factories with those switches and to build new mega factories with them. Do you think I should wait and or entirely not use them?

Unless those few seconds are critical to whatever you're using those machines for, I wouldn't worry about it (I use them).
when making new Buildings that use the switches I tend to make two power girds one that connects to the whole thing and one that connects to the switch, i have at times been flying with the hover pack and then hit a switch only to plummet several hundred feet as i just removed all the power , only a few times but the Flight grid solved that .

I think they mean that their factories have two separate power grids. One is just for the buildings and is on the power switch, and the other is only for the hoverpack

But when flying around the hoverpack just "connects" to the nearest point, not sure how this flight grid would work. wouldn't you need to power all the machines from points on the floor, then have your flight grid on the ceiling. ?

It's definitely worth it. I can't recommend enough making each of your facilities with its own internal power grid and connect it to a main power transport grid (e.g. trains or power towers) using priority power switches. The issues with the hover pack and power extend beyond switches and if you see any of them all you have to do is just unequip it and equip it again.
