Which renders your question moot.
It connects to the nearest power pole or plug or some end of a railroad track. If that nearest node has no power, too bad! It does not attach to power lines, so it can lose power in between two large poles. It needs 100MW to function and will trip the grid if the grid can't handle it. At this point, every single grid in your base should have big batteries attached to handle sudden grid load.
If the hoverpack runs out of energy, it has a last ditch glide mode to land safely.
I just lay poles as I go exploring. Basically unlimited now with just a minor inconvenience
This part makes me happy that third-person view is rare. Last ditch glide mode is me flapping my arms like Big Bird, and flying about as well.
Laying out poles as you fly works really well, I think. Chances are, you're going to need to plug into something in the pink jungle sooner or later, even if all it is is a giant spider nest, to make it glow in the dark (more).
Still, you can make a car. And you can make the Pioneer fly. You can load her up with a couple thousand bags of cement, and she still lifts off. So, why can't we have a flying car? Gaff's Spinner would be AOK, but a Snowspeeder with a harpoon would make land whale encounters a little more interesting.
And why would you put a harpoon on a Snowspeeder?? That should have been a fast, noisy way to snap the aft half of the machine away and get rid of Dak.
Hate to burst your bubble - but the only time I've seen 3rd person view is when I'm in a Hypertube - hoverpack - when it's out of range of power - just simply sputters off. That's it.
Just hold spacebar down (I think) and it will slowly glide you to the ground.
3rd Person happens on vehicles, The cube and the factory cart you can see yourself, and death.... I also think if you ragdoll but don't die too.
Fair enough. :)
This game is painful to play. It's like it's designed by a turtle...or a snail. That is the pace we must do everything. It's a 6 hr game, stretched over 300 hr because of moving slowly here and there. Very unsatisfactory indeed.
I wanna see that hover burn...it's too slow.
Just can't help yourself can you?
as long as you dont walk everywhere I dontsee the issue.
between my jet pack and hypertube cannons I can anywhere I want anytime I want and pretty quickly as well.
Ditto - Jetpack with Turbofuel for tall leaps - parachute for slow fall - hoverpack for inspection/construction and tactical hunting.
Not done the cannon thing - but I respect it.
