Yeah my sub was before they changed everything - hence the perk.
The only downside is they keep giving me games I buy a month later for free. :P

Many times you will find sales on games like this repeat in cycles. so if missed a deal and dont mind waiting 3 to 6 months chances are that deal will come back around.
you can check out the steam sale history at steamdb site and probably predict the next sale by looking at past patterns.
