not sure how a train one would work as trains come in various lengths the elevator would have to be massive

Train elavators dont make sense. but you can light the train ahead of time.

The closest thing I have to a train elevator in my world is two stations above and below a cliff and alot of conveyor elevators. Trains on the bottom drop off and trains at the top pickup.
I did this because making such a high ramp was being too much trouble and I decided to take the lazy solution. Especially with these cars being so heavy and I didnt want to add a second locomotive to allow it to go up a seemingly forever 2m ramp
