Factory items
Hello new to the game. My factory consists of iron main factory making rods, sheets, screws then getting made into rota, enforced sheets to smart plating then finally atm frames. Should I make seperate factory’s for some of these items as I’m finding it hard to keep up with screws needed for rotas for example I also bring all copper, cement items to storage containers at this factory. Is there a better way to this. Thanks

The resources you mine never run out. So make as many factories as you like. Screw production is slower than anything else at your stage of the game.

What will limit you is the belts, as only so many resources can fit on a belt at once. Later, you will research better belts, which helps.

Use the storage containers however you want. You can feed belts into and out of containers, so they can become supply buffers. Also, using containers is how you can put things onto a belt if you don't have a factory. In the early game, you can store as much as you like: as you make progress anything that you've stored at this stage of the game will get used up in more complex factories, so don't worry too much about the early resources. A bigger set of decisions relates to how you are going to move all of that stuff: more belts (Yesss! Precioussss!!!), trucks, trains, drones, and so on. Worry about that later.
Build as much as you need - always have power to spare - don't be afraid to spread out.

Belt capacity (or pipe) is always your limit - you won't run out of material - just amount you can use at a time is your limit.

There's no perfect way to do it - just build to suit your needs.

It is entirely up to you. It is hard to plan since it's your first playthrough and you don't know what you'll need later. However, it's almost impossible to build "too big" of a factory for something like screws. Even the bare-minimum late game factory is going to need something like 2400 screws/minute or equivalent alt parts. You don't need to build that many now, but if you wanted to there's no reason not to.

I find it helpful for organizing to make different things in different locations. Doing that also gives you room to expand when you inevitably realize you need more of some part. The map is very large, so there's no reason not to expand outwards and/or upwards.

As for your last question, that's the best you can do for now. When you discover something, you'll unlock the dimensional depot which gives you a MUCH better way to do it.

Don't be afraid to scrap everything and restart after you get a better feel for the game. You don't have too, the game is designed to be a chill resource management game and you can just keep adding to your current factory. But spend some time exploring. The different locations are quite varied and wonderfully designed.

And I highly recommend watching some videos for beginners. There are many tips that can help you play, but again, play the way you want. There is no wrong way to play this game.

What I do most of the time is thinking the production line from the top.

Something like that :

My objcective is a machine producing reinforced iron plate at 100% of his capacity.
For that, I need 30 plate/min and 60 screw/min
For 30 plates/min I need 45 ingot/min
For 60 screw/min I need 15 rod/min
For 15 rod/min I need 15 ingots/min

So I need 60 ingots for this production line.

Then now I know all of that, I start building.

One thing i found useful is building a warehouse. Run all your parts to the warehouse into storage containers using belts and its easier to get what you need when its all in one location. Also explore explore explore. A lot of neat things to discover. so far i have come across 2 tapes and a extra helmet.
Get out and find some hard drives and get the alt recipes that free you from the tyranny of the screws. There are a few of them, but it will make your planning and design much easier down the road.

in case you got bad luck with the hard drives:
5 screw constructors feed 2 rotor assemblers
3 screw constructors feed 2 reinforced plate assembler.
Use closed modules

Oh wow two tapes you say... I only ever found the DRG tape.
screws will get easier when you unlock steel and unlock via hard drives...with steel you make beams then convert those in to screws ...happy days lots of screws, but pain in ass until then..
Considering how much of a PITA it is making screws, how about this idea.

Dedicate an iron node to only making screws, belt those into a group of say 4 or 5 industrial storage containers, and then to a truck stop or train station, that will deliver these anywhere they are needed. So a nice little factory named "Screw You!" takes care of the entire factory map ;o) (this can of course be upgraded over time to make sure it can keep pace with the need!)

One is located in a lake crater in the center of it. the other is located in the rocky mountains i think is the name of the place. Anyways its located on one of those stone branch dohickies in the center and has a lot of power slugs on the branches. just watch out for the hatchers.
