No sound with only one audio device
I'm using a Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2. The audio device functions as expected with every other application, including other Steam games. This is the only audio device failing to output Satisfactory audio; the game works fine with speakers or headphones wired into my monitor. I don't know what could have caused this, as it was working fine a few nights ago, then wasn't the next day.

What I have tried:
  • Restarting my PC.
  • Reinstalling the problem device's drivers.
  • Reinstalling every sound device's drivers.
  • Disabling all other devices.
  • Checking the application's default device in the Windows volume mixer.
  • Setting the problem device as the default in Sound > Playback.
  • Reinstalling Satisfactory.
  • Disabling all sound devices, launching the game, restarting my PC, enabling the problem device, and launching the game.
  • Uninstalling Satisfactory, deleting any file searched with "Factory Game," "FactoryGame," or "Satisfactory" on my SSD, and reinstalling.

On Win10 22H2, not sure what other information is relevant.

*Update:* I upgraded to Win11, which still didn't work. I've installed Voicemeeter to make Satisfactory technically output to a new device while still routing to my headset. Works for me.

Try re-installing directx perhaps....?

Sorry, does this mean that if you plug headphones into your monitor and set that as the sound device, you can hear the game?
May be a case of the default device sound wise as picked in windows - bluetooth/wireless audio tends to be a real pain in windows systems. Check your advanced sound controls and see what its focusing on for your audio.

It's one of the reasons I have a independent transceiver for mine. Windows sees a AUX Cable - no mess no fuss no stupid bluetooth code that windows has no clue how to handle properly. Not to mention much better range.

Yes, I just meant that using other audio devices works fine. A different set of headphones, to be clear

Yeah, I've also checked this out. I definitely didn't expect seamless cooperation between a headset designed for console and my PC - though, it's been fine for years until now

Been looking into how to do so, I'm not seeing a straightforward way to reinstall DX. How would you?
A small number of games have sound options that let you pick the output device, but Satisfactory does not have such a setting. That means that Satisfactory is sending to the "default sound device" in Windows.

What happens next is that in the Windows Sound settings, there is Advanced Sound Options that lets you intercept audio from a particular application and send that audio to a particular sound device. So while the game is running (so it appears in Advanced Sound Options), see if there is a listing for the game under Advanced Sound Options that directs the game's audio to go to a particular device.

Thanks for leaving a comment. I've found an easy enough workaround, though
