How much rocket fuel should I set aside for drones?
I've never really dealt with drones before, and am about to get started on a big rocket fuel plant. Planned output of 1800 rocket fuel, unless I sloop some and get extra, I'm still a bit unsure if that's a good use for them.

Anyway, does anyone have a recommendation on how much fuel to set aside for drone usage? I'm probably not gonna go very far beyond what is required for completing the game, but it would be nice to have enough that it's unlikely to become an issue all of a sudden.

Without any indication of your planned drone usage, 69/min.
More than you need, but less than too much.

Set aside? You want to refill your drones manually?
Automate the fuel line and forget about it forever.

Nobody can tell you how much you fuel you need to "set aside" to finish the game, because nobody knows when you got drones online and nobody knows what your factory looks like.

If your factories are just conveyer belts everywhere you need ZERO fuel to finish the game.

Well, with "set aside" I meant more along the lines of how much of the rocket fuel production should be devoted to drones, since the rest will be fed to generators. I didn't really expect any exact numbers, but maybe a rough ballpark, since I don't really know much about how much fuel a drone tends to chew through.

Just an idea of how much people generally tends to feel is enough to comfortably feed their setups.
Hmm, I might be able to hint at a solution. On a pre-1.0 build I finished the game (back then T4 was max) and did everything with drones at a small scale, with a target rate of 1/minute of every space elevator part (except nuclear pasta, that one was 0.5 or 0.25, not sure anymore) and I used one OC'd manufacturer to create classical batteries, which were partially used for elevator parts too. I think I used about 40-ish batteries for transportation only. Rocket fuel has 20% more energy density so you'll need 16.666% less fuel for a similar operation plus T5 exclusive transportation.

So on a rough scale you could assume your fuel needs will be
40 x 0.8333 x Space Elevator parts rate : 1

Again, with no information on how you are planning to use your drones, there is no possible way to answer for you. The fuel cost of the drone depends on the distance it travels, and obviously the number of drones you have influences how much fuel you need. Both of these numbers will vary wildly from player to player, with the amount of fuel they need thus varying just as wildly. The number could be anywhere between 0 and all 1800 depending on these factors. If you want a better estimate, you'd need to provide some amount of information: how many drones are you planning on using for example.

I have 11 drones, longest distance they travel is roughly top third of the dunes to the swamp. I make 120/min packaged rocket fuel and my fuel port (and the ISC between it and the packagers) is completely full.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I buffer 40,000k bottles at the initial drone distribution site though, and then at destinations also.
You dont need to use drones. You can redesign your base at any time so that you can use trains. But if your set on drones, check out batteries. Its what I use. Not as fast, but might be cheaper

Rocket fuel pushes wayyyyyyyyy more drones than batteries.

Not trying to be snooty or offensive.

I use drones to gather all the Uranium and SAM ore on the map. Makes it super easy, you fuel the receiving side , also using drones.

Plutonium fuel rods last longer than packaged rocket fuel.

Alright, it seems this topic requires more information than I have right now (I figured I'd start with a good energy supply before getting serious about tackling the rest of phase 4) so I'll mark this as the topic answer and dedicate two blenders (300) to the drone fuel and sloop those if it turns out I need more later down the line.
