Truck Stations - again!
Hi all,
Still a noob here.
I've been playing around with truck stations as a means of distribution but am having some issues. I can't even implement the following basic scenario...
eg.
I want my rotors factory to distribute it's rotors EQUALLY to my Smart Plating factory and my Motors factory. How do I do this.

I've tried sending the rotors to a truck station just outside that factory. Then have 2 trucks. One picking up and delivering to motors and one picking up and delivering to smart plating.
However, whenever a truck loads the rotors - it loads ALL the rotors leaving none (or the small amount that has accrued between truck stops) for the next truck delivering to the other factory

Do I need to have a truck stop at the rotors factory for each possible destination and apportion appropriately with splitters?

What if I wanted to send all my rotors to a large central storage area for distribution. I hit the same issue with the first truck that visits picking up all the rotors and so they don't get distributed evenly?

I'm obviously a bit confused as how to implement what seems a basic requirement.

Any advice much appreciated!

Cheers

You've pretty much nailed it on the head, a vehicle will pick up as much as it can, there is no way to apportion it with a single truck stop. Splitting into 2 stops one for each destination will work.

I used trucks at the start of my game. The aesthetic is nice but they are janky as hell. I got trains doing what my trucks used to do and it works much better. I really wish the devs would improve the truck system, so they don't crash into each other, have a queing station, and be able to record paths better, using a visual point and line on the surface you can edit.

You can back feed the belt so it loads less rotors per minute.
Or use 2 seperate truck stations and load balance the rotors.

Just to summarize the options:

1. Use two sending stations, and a splitter to send equal amounts of rotors to both of them. This is "load-balancing". Later on, trains can do this much more easily; and in fact trains are better than trucks in every way and once you unlock trains there's no reason to use trucks ever again.
2. Use one sending station, and produce enough rotors that the first destination station will eventually fill up, allowing some rotors to make it through to the second destination station. This is, essentially, "manifolding".
3. Just use very long belts instead of vehicles.

To get an equal amount of rotors to both the Smart Plating Factory and the Motors factory, saturate the belts that the truck station loads off from. If you got a smart plate factory that gets rotors from a T2 Belt, and the Motors Factory also uses a T2 Belt for rotors, make 240 Rotors a minute to deliver evenly between everything.

Past that, trucks are simple tools and they just care that they are picking up or dropping off neat stuff.
