Flower Petals on desert map?
So I need Flower Petals to make Color Cartridges. On the first map they were everywhere. On this map I can hardly find any.

It says on wiki if you cut down trees you'll be given some, but if trees are the main place I get them from, there's no way I'll get enough.

Where are patches of Flower Petals on the desert map?

Thanks in advance.

Head west from the desert and you will find different biomes with flowers and such.

Mind blown! I had no idea it was one giant map. The map is far bigger than I ever imagined. I'm in Rocky Desert (start 2). Thanks for the answer - guess I'll have to travel a bit east. Thanks for the response.

When you open hyper tubes and jet pack, map dont looks so big anymore. It's like "Oh, I forgot to place miner on ore deposit at other corner of the map, welp, another 30 second trip I guess".

From Rocky Desert, Grass Fields is South, Northern Forest is directly East, and Dune Desert is farthest East. There are smaller biomes (or sections of the main 4) between each "named" biome, though their boundaries aren't glaringly obvious.

Depending on what's closer to your current position in Rocky Desert, it may be faster to get to the green forest that lies between that and Grass Fields.

Yeah it just never occurred to me that where I did my first 300 hour factor was on the exact same map but just in a different zone - that it was one entire huge map with just different 'starting' areas.

Now there's less reason to start a new game - just go to new areas and build more factories, since I have access to 'all the maps' in my current game.

Too bad I can't migrate my 300 hour factory from area 1 into this new 100 hour factory I'm building in area 2 (or vice-versa).

You don't have to stay in the area you started in. Exploring will become necessary when you have to tap oil nodes in other regions for more power, or coal, or anything else, really.

Once you get nuclear power, you'll definitely have to branch out, as it's mostly in the big red forest, and the best place to build reactors is off the coast of Rocky Desert, because there's plenty of water.

As for getting the flower petals picking all the different plants will tell you which ones they come from. I think most plants with red leaves seem to have them, though I'm a chainsaw happy player as I use mass bio power to get me to oil. I usually build in the Dune desert to to the abundance of Pure nodes, and comparative high frequency and closeness of all the scarcer ore types .

Just want to pop in and say that Color Cartridges are no longer required to use the Customizer. Though they do make a fantastic fuel in vehicles.

Is that in U8 experimental?

Current U7, CCs are needed for applying customizer patterns

IIRC Color Cartridges were rendered obsolete back in like Update 5.

Not entirely obsolete. They're no longer used for colours, but like Mozzy said they're used to apply patterns on foundations (these are different from materials).

specifically, I use ton of em for road markings - side dash for center lane on smaller 2 lane roads, and center dash for large, multi lane highways I build.

Oh not that the map was bigger than I thought - just that I had no idea I was playing on the exact same map no matter which 'starting' zone you picked - I thought they were separate maps.

I use tubes, with a method of getting max speed before being launched in there - I get to where I need in 10 seconds - neat to see how fast I can go compared to any other way.
