How close can you build 2 truck stations?
I have two truck stations that were adjacent. I set up an automatic line for each.

One ended up picking up items from both stations (I think it emptied out its intended station, and hence took some from the adjacent station).

So it seems I have to keep them a bit more separate?

I ran into this issue, and when I watched the vehicles come in I saw the problem. So that large empty area in front of the stations? If a vehicle so much as cuts across the corner of it, it's contents are unloaded. So some space would help, as well as very precise routing when it comes into the station.

If a truck or tractor get any where near the outlined hitbox it will pick up items. Its best to space the stations out so that cant happen.

Use foundations so you can see the tile borders. Truck station zones are highlighted when you go to build them. Keep them at least one notch each away from each other (two notches total).

Also note the guide arrows for vehicle paths cut down the center of the truck, and the game has a hardcoded minimum distance from the station, which means your manual path may be close, but the autopilot path will adjust, and with the truck being so huge, it's easy to cross into another station's zone.

What you can try instead is turn the stations around so they face opposite directions, or turn one 90 degrees to the other.

Or its more about having fun than efficient?

Edit: This question it not about end game, its more about by the time, quite early, when you unlock tractor + station.

Honestly more about aesthetics than efficiency. But there is something to be said about the throughput of tractors early on, especially if the best belt you have access to can only do 270 items/min. If you want to transport a lot of raw material like coal over long distance, setting up some tractors might actually be less of a pain than running multiple belts over a long distance. It's also easier to make changes to and upgrade. Imagine dismantling all those veeeery long belts you built, or upgrading them. With tractors all you have to worry about is 2 buildings and a vehicle, simpler in a way.

Also it's probably a lot due to personal preference. I cringe at the idea of having to build 2 kilometer long belts to transport anything, it's a tedious process and the result is unsightly unless you spend a lot more time than needed making it look good. I'd rather just set up a track or two, or later trains and drones.

Sorry, I probably deleted my comment (because I moved it to my own post) while you were writing. But would like to inform that I thank your reply.

I managed to get 2 truck stations with belt space into one blueprint in the far opposing corners.
It requires patience with recording the path but it works.
