then whats the point. blueprints are so you don't have to build the same huge thing over and over again.

You only have to connect seperate blueprints which is allready a timesaver.
All T1, T2 and T3 factories fit inside without making a mess.

It's intended to make modules, not whole production lines.

E.g. you can fit 2 floors of 8 constructors each, with input and output belts and power cables. Place 10 of those blueprints in a line and connect them together, and you have very quickly just build a block of 160 constructors.

Yeah, it's yet again one of those things that was implemented with weird limitations that make no sense.

Oh well, there are mods available that make the are much bigger, I recommend just downloading the one that doubles it, it makes it big enough for most application. Anything more than that gets a bit unstable, the game wasn't really built for this kind of thing.

I have also not yet used the great
and there are far better blueprint designers as a mod that are not so limited but I have never used them either
my factories I fit more into the landscape and also never look the same.
Many have cheered about the part for me was the peaceful mode much better.

I would have preferred it to be at least twice as large, but it saves a lot of time nevertheless. I have fairly intricate building designs to house my factories, and even though the entire building doesn't fit in the designer at once I can create it from a few blocks in under a minute instead of having to painstakingly place hundreds of different pieces by hand and apply customizations to make it look just right. I also have canned production line segments for different machines, with most of the necessary conveyors, splitters, mergers and power outlets already in place.

Get creative. People are squeezing quute a bit into these.

OP, are you expecting to drop an entire super computer production line with one click? Or the final phase elevator parts?

Why wouldn't the player expect to be able to do this?
You can in other factory builder games.

I use the designer almost exclusively for transportation and cosmetics, and I am perfectly content with that.

The overall point being that just because you can't one click build whole production lines of late game parts doesn't mean they're completely useless. I mean, unless you like having to manually place every single smelter every time you tap a new node or similarly very frequent things. There are plenty of uses for the blueprints as they are. You just have to think about it.

Want a real answer? Because the game would ♥♥♥♥ itself if you attempted to do this. They made a factory game in Unreal Engine, not really an engine designed for those kind of operations. Still doesn't excuse them for making it this small, when it works perfectly fine when you double it's size with a mod... but we're never getting anything like blueprints from Factorio.

I want a box copy and past, mod area action is still broken for update 8
Thachicken Jul 15, 2023 @ 8:31am
Yeah, I agree that the current Blueprint system is just meh. They fixed a lot of things that made it hard to use but honestly, I don't particularly like the blueprints still. You can say 2x the size is better and all that but honestly, I would prefer to just make a blueprint I'm satisfied with in one go and not sections. I feel like its fairly poorly done, even for my transportation. Double the size would make it nicer and make it work properly for my transportation but honestly, I find using it for factories kind of pointless. You can't even create a proper wall design using it if you ask me, let alone a proper production line. Not to mention the manually connecting everything to the network afterwards because the game doesn't do the connections. It is a mess, it will stay a mess.

i just don't want to make another coal generator setup.
