Was having fun but now a fuse is broken...
It says a fuse is broken because of a problem with my power grid. I'm producing enough power for everything so not really sure what do to. I tried turn off some assemblers but that's not doing anything. Anyone have any ideas? I'm just starting tier 3.

If the breaker trips, then you are not producing enough power. Get more generators running.

Always try to give yourself plenty of extra power. I say if you start using more than 75%, it's time to upgrade.

You were correct. I was reading it wrong. added more power and everything started working. At least now I'm working for coal which I hope will give me more power.

Assuming you're right about making enough power: Check all your bio generators are full and connected. You really want all power generators are on their own tiny power grid, so you get that up and see what you're producing. Then connect it... the surge might trip the grid, but flip it again.

Once you get to coal, you want to find a goodly sized water source, as that's usually the limiting factor in your first coal set-up. And I recommend building it discrete from everything (easier to re-start/segregate); which allows you to power the pumps alone from the rest of the grid, allowing for a restart. And don't 'share' the coal input with anything else so you get a nice steady flow. BTW don't overclock power plants, but you can/should overclock coal miners (if your belts can handle traffic).

Coal is a large step up in power, and fully automated.

You need coal and water for generators. Bring the coal to the water; it's easier to transport. And remember that mk1 pipes only support 300 water/min at most.

Though you're not going to be able to run the pipes at full capacity; if each coal plant takes 45 water/min you're only going to be able to handle 6 coal gens per full waterpump array.

You can run 8 generators with 3 water extractors if you pipe correctly.

As long as you insure that you have enough water and coal, overclocking is not a problem. I always overclock my water extractors and my Coal plants to maximize power. Haven't ever had any issues in release 3 and 4 of this game.
With power shards in both Water extractors and Coal Generators, I connect one extractor directly to 3 generators. For a ratio of 1 to 3.
Edit: Now connect 1 overclocked Extracter to every two Overclocked Coal plants.

I run 3/8 all the time, no problems. One manifold for all 8 generators. Put an input pipe from the water generators every two junctions. |-|-p-|-|-p-|-|-p-|-|. Works every time.
I don't overclock anything in my power setups though.......

If you look at an 'overclocked' power plant, you'll see that the overclocking doesn't work as well as it should. It should be producing 2.5 what it normally would be, but it's not. So you're not actually benefiting all that much. Instead you should just build more power plants...

(BTW, I learned this on this forum)

I usually do 8 coal generators + 2 pairs of water generators, each pair servicing 4.

That's how I usually do it, since that's the full output of 1 MK2 miner on a normal node.
