HEY DEVS-CRAFT BUTTON
Can you design the game to where I dont have to sit with my finger on the mouse button in order to craft something please? Too much finger stress..grows old after awhile:steamfacepalm: Thank yooouuu.

You mean like a Smelter, Constructor, Assembler, Manufacturer, etc.?

Apparently space bar also works, which would be a bit easier to hold/weigh down.

Yup. I mean, why not just click a button and wait?

Maybe because the game is about making things automatic?
Only at the workbench you have to hold down a button right?

I would rather just be locked into a 'crafting' animation while using the crafting bench than have to hold down a button or put a remote control on the space bar to do it for me while I'm out exploring and need to craft something to open a drop pod or to make fuel for my vehicle on-the-fly.

I'm just saying it can put stress on the finger or the thumb holding it down on the mouse button constantly like that. I know i'd get tired of it after awhile...but thats just me.

This is barely an issue, as once you get the automated system made, you're going to be using the workbench, less, and less, until to a point where you're basically almost never, or rarely touch the workbench. I'm making large factory, and once you get that going trust me, you're not even going to touch it that workbench at all.

You could use like macro on a button, and toggle left click if you wanted.

Guessing you are new to the game which is fine. Give the game a chance before judging too harshly. I found holding the mouse in the start annoying too. Then found that spacebar does the same thing and my cellphone sits against that perfectly.
The first part of the game you are doing things by hand but (depending on experience in with the game) inside about 30 minutes you should have things automated for the most part.

Remember when you get those first factory pieces going you can create a SAVE and keep it for the next time you start over. Then you can bypass the boring tedious part.

Also you can automate biofuel (I do this after get chainsaw) just dump a crap ton (over 5 stacks) of leaves/wood in a box. Attack it to a factory drop box on other side and go work toward Coal. By the time you come back you have all the fuel you need. Then you start with coal and all that biofuel runs your vehicles forever.

Nice..dont get me wrong..I like the game a lot..its just that one thing about the craft button that was quickly giving me the initial "omg, this game is gonna be boring and uncomfortable!" feel.

100% agree. The mechanic is bad. Space is a workaround not a fix and peoples utilization of manual crafting varies widely. There are only some 'elevator' products that require machinery and it's way faster to craft by hand until you have multiples on the end product in your automation line.
IE: When you have a line that feeds one assembler, it's still faster to craft by hand. How you progress and what you prioritize is for you to decide so ignore the 'you should already have it automated' and play your style.

The action of manually crafting consists of standing at the workbench for x time to craft y number of z product.
Whether a mouse button is held down manually or artificially or a button is held down manually or artificially is the interaction method not the mechanic. The mechanic is to lock the player for the amount of time necessary.
A 'start crafting y of z with x duration' button would present the same mechanic with a much cleaner interaction. (And less wear on hardware)

Yes this is designed this way on purpose. The developers know and understand that holding your finger down on the mouse is very annoying and uncomfortable. It's supposed to be uncomfortable and annoying. The game is designed in a way like that to make it so you actually will be discouraged from / do not want to craft at the work bench for very long. The point is to try and encourage you to go create machines and create automation and have the machines do the work for you.

"Craft All" or "Craft Max" button?

Nope. That would make the crafting bench easy and then everyone would craft there forever and never make machines. They aren't going to make the crafting bench easier.

in what way is it 'easier', it still takes the same amount of time, your character would still be locked in place while crafting, you just wouldnt have to physically hold a button (i always just put my phone on the spacebar anyways)
