This isn't exactly rocket science.
Nice reading comprehension, broham.
Thanks, I struggled with the giant bold letters, but I was able to figure out what it said.
Yeah, it's okay. I'm used to people on Steam reading the subject line and using that for a counter argument, rather than reading the entire post.
The point is, there is a hefty demand for this feature, as Suzaku hinted at from his post. The developers are missing out on a lot of potential audience by skipping over AI mechanics.
Just because I didn't scour the internet for a developer YT channel for information doesn't mean I lack reading comprehension. I came here to share my thoughts and maybe get some answers. It's what the Steam forums are for. But you're welcome to direct me to their statement on this subject. What a life it would be if you had a question about anything and the response was always "Look it up."
I enjoy this game, don't get me wrong. It's just that once I have a factory up and running, I eventually stop and wonder why I'm making this massive supply chain and what the purpose of all of this is. It's all an illusion of course and the end-goal is making an optimized, efficient factory, but I suppose the extra layer of base defense in Factorio gives a stronger sense of purpose to fill a void that is present on this game.
My .02 of course. And I suppose the 3D aspect does make implementing an NPC attack mechanic much more complex than an isometric 2D game would.
Thanks for the response. Now at least I can understand their reasoning behind not having it in the game.
So...two people want a game to have a feature it doesn't have currently.
So if i could find another person who wants to force players to manually mine everything, then this would be a viable feature for the game to force everyone to do?
Yes, it might be a requested feature, however, this is not that sort of game. The game doesn't need base asaults. It does however need to have its own identity.
Also I thought I would take this moment to introduce you to steam's wonderful search feature. By using it you can find a lot of useful information without even creating a thread at all. It seems (since you created this thread) that you may be unaware that steam has a search feature. So I'll show you an example: https://steamcommunity.com/app/526870/discussions/search/?q=base+defense&include_deleted=1
If you had used the search feature then you would of seen that there are existing threads on the subject. If you would go read them then you would of already found out that it's a closed subject and that the developers won't even discuss it.
I totally understand that this is their game; however, if you have market demand for a product or feature and your organization won't consider developing it, that's a naive business move.
That being said, I'm sure this instance isn't anything close to financial suicide. I know I'm in the minority requesting this feature. Many players are happy with the way the game is, but that doesn't mean I should just keep it to myself. There is always room for improvement.
Many developers are happy to hear feedback and suggestions about their product. If I had a games studio, I would appreciate people voicing what they'd like to see in my game and critiquing, rather than silently moving along to a competitor's product without specifying why. If enough people ask, it may allow the developer to reconsider their position and look into the benefits of allocating resources toward such a project. It also gives the studio a window into what their audience wants and rearrange future priorities.
Just because YOU don't like the idea doesn't mean it should be muted and swept away from the forums. I know there is a search feature, but I also wanted to give my opinion. If I wanted a simple answer without giving any expression, I would've done the digging. I like Satisfactory. I shared my input because I want to see the game expand and succeed ever-more. And of course, I welcome disagreement, but it doesn't need to be given in a snide fashion.
If you'd bothered to search for those threads, you'd have seen that your opinion has been raised before. You didn't bring anything new to it.
And you're still acting like its a 'bad move' on their part by not including it. You've given zero thought to what it would take to actually implement such a system into this game, nor have you considered the merits of actually adding it. What would defence mechanics bring to this game? The simple answer is, not a lot.
